We hired some kayaks from Chris at Portnellan Farm for a couple of hours. Chris gave us a few tips on where to go. We paddled out to Inchmurrin to some secluded beaches and then explored an uninhabited island to the east. 2 hours got us around but I wish I had hired the kayaks for longer to get to the other islands. Next time! The kayak and life jackets were of good quality. I'd highly recommend hiring from Chris given the location to access the beaches on the nearby islands on the loch.

THE BEST DAY - Arrived at 9am and booked two Kayaks for 2 hours. The father and son that run this place are honestly brilliant. So welcoming, smiley and are genuinely interested in what they do.

My partner is not a great swimmer, but she was reassured by the excellent instructions provided. We were giving buoyancy aids for safety and off we went.

The loch was like a millpond. Not a single wave and was almost crystal clear. It was around 24c and we explored some of the small islands, including visiting the local beach cows. I'd recommend this place to anyone as we are going to be coming back next weekend.

I would book ahead at this place. We were lucky enough to get the last available kayaks. Also parking seems a little limited due to the popularity of the place.

Amazing boat tour experience with Chris on Loch Lomond. Very insightful explanations on the Loch and we enjoyed a refreshing beer at the end of the tour !

We went on the speedboat island visit with Chris on who was a great host. He showed us around the loch with its breathtaking views and answered my kids questions. He was very sweet and patient. He then took us to a nearby island Inchmurrin for some ice cream and coffee. We loved the full hour and a half experience and definitely advise others to do the same. His family’s farm also sells organic meat from their herd. We bought some for dinner and it was so good. If they could only ship outside the UK…

Nestling in the trees on the side of a mountain. Two miles walk from Crianlarich Train Station. The Kestrel cabin is beautiful. Lovely big open plan kitchen/ lounge. Some seating outside if it's good weather. The bedrooms are small like cabin bedrooms but it does sleep 6. Loved exploring the area. Walks all around.

A truly wonderful place and now firmly an annual destination for our family. The owners are truly amazing people and couldn’t be more welcoming. From the fantastic accommodation to the boat tours and organic beef I genuinely can’t rate Portnellan Farm highly enough.

Stunning location and an absolutely amazing couple running it. Refreshingly eco friendly products and practices used where ever possible.

Swung by and parked up in my campervan for 2 nights mid winter, but still a cracking spot with Ben Lomand in the distant.

Summer here looks alot of fun with boats, paddle boards, kayaks etc... And probs more sun too... 😜
