At 8am on the 29th May (co-incidentally my birthday) I met up with fellow Poldarkians from the United States for Chris and Carolyn Barnard's Poldark tour. There were about 30 of us on this tour. Our first stop was Holywell Bay which is extraordinarily beautiful and atmospheric with its lovely dunes. Everyone spread out over the beach to explore it and I began to get to know some people for the first time. Although I had already been on 3 of Chris and Carolyn's tours before (they were all bespoke and different) this was a special one as I was getting to meet people for the first time. I sat next to Bonny Wise on the coach. She had organised the entire trip from the US which included stays in London and elsewhere en route to Cornwall. We went on to Dollar Cove the site of the wrecking scene and many other scenes and Church Cove where Dwight and Caroline were wed. Television crews were here to interview people for local broadcast, interested to know why we were on this trip and what we felt about it. Our next stop was Penberth Cove which is Sawle in the t.v. series. It is a quaint and very characterful hamlet and we spent quite a while here. We had lunch at the Hazelphron Inn and continued on our way to see Dwight's cottage in a lovely situation close to the beach. Then it was on to Botallack, an area I love perhaps more than anywhere else where we saw West Wheal Owles otherwise knows as Wheal Leisure and Wheal Grace. After this some of walked down to the top engine house of Grambler. I found the courage this time to walk to this spot and it was fantastic. It was a magical day in great company. Chris and Carolyn know how to organise great tours and Bonny had done an amazing job getting all these people from all over the US to Cornwall. This was a very memorable tour and will be the subject of many happy memories. People from the US hosted an evening meetup two days later where we were able to talk about the tour and share our experiences of it.

It was lovely and the atmosphere was as if you were in Poldark. Only downside is being disabled I could not see all the tour as the coastline footpaths was too uneven and steep in places.

A very good tour for those who want to visit the sites associated with the Poldark novels. Chris and Carolyn have extensive knowledge of the sites, and all the details of which scenes were filmed there. You get an itinerary in advance, very comfortable transport, and stops for refreshments. In addition a great bonus is that Chris takes photographs of the tour members at some of the sites and sends you the links, a very precious memory of the tour.

Best vacation ever! This tour was more than I hoped for or could even imagine. The sites visited were breathtaking. Botallack was my favorite Poldark stop but Porthgwarra Beach and St. Agnes Head are equally stunning. The recommended accommodations were wonderful. However, the most impressive aspect was the personal attention provided by the Barnards. They are such lovely people and helped ensure this was the trip of a lifetime. Though I went to Cornwall for Poldark I left with friends.

Twice Chris and Carolyn have taken me on tour. They go to all the EXACT locations of filming and in fact, we caught some filming with them. They are wonderful people and to me will be lifelong friends.

Their prices are also MORE REASONABLE than other places I have checked and you truly get ABOVE AND BEYOND what you pay for.

Chris and Carolyn, will keep in touch and see you again next time. xx Definitely a treat coming in from Michigan, in the U.S.
