Our stay at Pennygate Lodge was unforgettable. We arrived late on our first night and had missed dinner, but the owner kindly prepared a cheese plate for us—a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel welcome.||The food here is truly exceptional. The chef’s creations are the best meals I have ever had, beautifully presented and full of flavor. Every breakfast and dinner was a highlight of our trip, and we looked forward to each meal.||The rooms are lovely, quiet, and cozy. They were a little warm, but still very comfortable, and the showers were absolutely wonderful—spacious with great water pressure.||What really stood out was the kindness of the staff. The host was incredibly thoughtful, always making sure we had everything we needed and even slipping us extra focaccia bread because she noticed how much we loved it.||Pennygate Lodge is more than just a place to stay—it’s a warm, welcoming experience with world-class food. We can’t wait to come back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Pennygate Lodge. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. The house is charming with a wonderful garden and view down to the harbor. Breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed chatting with the servers as well as the chef who bakes fresh sourdough bread every day. One server even loaned me her midge bug spray for my hike! Tony and Fiona were both such welcoming hosts and very gracious when we forgot to return our key and had to leave it with crew person on the Cal Mac Ferry.|We regret that we weren't there on a night that they served dinner (Sunday and Monday in Aug. 2025), but we are sure it is very good. Craignure is very small, but the location is convenient to the ferry. It's a good idea to make dinner reservations in August.

This century-old inn has been beautifully updated while maintaining it's historic character. Our room was decorated with antiques and original art. Staying in a unique inn like this makes us feel unique too; it's not like the cookie-cutter experience in chain hotels. Breakfast and dinner were delicious and beautifully prepared. The Inn is near the center of the island and under 5 minutes from the ferry, making it a good jumping off place for exploring. The owners were very communicative and even provided suggested itineraries for day trips, which we enjoyed. I recommend this Inn highly.

Had the most wonderful stay at the Pennygate! Our room was incredibly cozy and the breakfast was divine! We also had dinner one night during our stay that was equally as delicious! Highly recommend getting the room with the bathtub, the view is simply stunning!

Second visit. The rooms are beautifully decorated and appointed. On both occasions we had front facing rooms and the view is stunning. There is also a lovely garden to sit out enjoy and I recommend doing that. Great hosts although only saw Tony this time.|I recommend the guest house.||The only issue we had was with the lack of choice on the menu (despite what some other reviewers have said). There has been a change in the kitchen staff and they are following a policy of locally sourced ingredients which is good but I think does limit options. On the first night there was a meat, fish and veggie choice (and a fish special) but my wife has a reaction and is unable to eat fish so a choice of 2, none of which we liked. The restaurant staff did respond and put on a beef "special" for us the next night which was to our taste and Tony recommended a restaurant in Tobermory for the third night which was excellent. So I do think Tony and the team did everything they could to help but just be aware it is a small menu.

My family and I stayed for two nights at Pennygate Lodge and would happily have moved in forever. Our top story room was generously sized for 3 adults and the bathroom was exquisite. Breakfasts were luscious with friendly, attentive but still low key service. Our only complaint was that we weren’t there on a night when dinner was served - our fault, not the management’s. Divine - can’t wait to return.

The welcome and personal touches are just great. The amenities are of high quality which all leads to a very relaxing visit. Breakfast was both cold 'help yourself' and made to order and was very good. We dined here two nights and enjoyed the varied menu and very generous portions. Don't hesitate to book!

Disclaimer: we didn’t stay here, only stopped by for dinner but it was one of the best meals we had during our 2+ weeks in Scotland. The menu is small, but each dish was cooked to perfection - fresh ingredients and very flavourful. The desserts and cheese board were also good too. Tony (the owner) had a great wine list and gave exceptional recommendations. The small dining room allows for an intimate dining experience and personable interactions with the super friendly staff.
