We hired one of these boats for a day and had a nice experience. This was our first time and we were given clear and detailed instructions for more than 20 minutes. The first half an hour was a little difficult and then we got comfortable. We were also given a few set of keys and instructions to open the locks. The boat also has a seating area, a mini kitchen with hob, toilet. Overall a nice experience !

Five of us enjoyed a great day’s hire ! At the start we had clear and thorough instructions on how to use the boat and operate the bridges.

The boat was clean and well equipped for the day with a kettle ,plates, cups and crockery. All the equipment and controls worked perfectly.

We had time to go up to Gargrve which is a beautiful scenic route and then back through Skipton for a drink at the Bay Horse before returning. The boat was easy to operate and we all took turns driving with no incidents.

The people at Pennine were very friendly and helpful, all of which contributed to an excellent day enjoyed by all. Thank you !

We had an amazing time on Carleton for a short break. This was our first narrow boat trip, so the good instructions before was much appreciated. The company further assist with first swing bridge and lock which was great!

What a fabulous and fun day out was had by all.
Took Jim out for the day, there were four of us on board.
To say the boat was tiny, but it had everything you need for a great day out.
Take along a picnic or make your picnic on board as there is crockery, cutlery, pans etc provided.
Take your tea bags and you can make a brew.
There’s even a flushing loo too.
We headed in the direction of Leeds and there several swing bridges to handle, not to worry though as you receive tuition before you depart regarding all the things to do on board and off, you need to be quite able bodied though to handle the swing bridges.
During our trip we saw an abundance of wildlife, from deer, herons, swans, signets, ducks n ducklings to name but a few.
I would recommend this activity to able bodied people who like something different.
We’re definitely going to return but head in the opposite direction.

Fantastic cruise. We hired a boat for the day and sailed down to Gargrave near the first lock. Beautiful scenery all the way.

We had a lovely holiday. A couple of issues with the boat were quickly sorted by the lovely mechanics who found us very quickly where we were. Always very obliging and informative - quite educational as this was our maiden voyage. The boat was spotlessly clean and well equipped and we were given plenty of instruction on locks and bridges, water filing and engine management. We were never rushed and always reassured. It’s a 10 from us 👍🏻

Rented a 6 berth barge from Monday till Friday. Amazing experience. The canal along there is so beautiful. The barge has everything you need to cruise and live in for a week.

Special mention to Zoe who was very lovely and helpful in telling us the best direction to head first. Thanks a lot Zoe =) Also Phil was very professional and helpful in getting us accustomed to the boat and its bits and bobs.

One of the most scenic barge trips I've been on. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
Well worth the £5 a head for half an hour.
