Brilliant experience doing canoeing as a family for the first time. Leon guided us so well down the lovely Cromford Canal. He was very patient with two excitable young lads, and entertained them with lots of games and challenges along the way. He was very gracious when having wet balls chucked at him too! ?

Wonderful day on the river with instructor Chris and Captain Barney (his dog). He was really welcoming and helpful throughout. It’s a lovely trot down the river with enough challenges to keep us beginners well entertained.

We cannot recommend our adventure canoeing on the canal enough. How serene and the instruction from Chris was amazing.
We had challenges, paddles up and down and made some fabulous memories. Peaks and Paddles is a great company to start your adventure with (they don't just do canoes!) and Barney the dog is fabulous too.
Thank you Chris for your time and patience with us all. Will definitely book again when we are in the area.

Excellent company, with a super friendly guide, .
I have had two trips with Chris, one on the River Derwent, and one with my god-daughter (6 years old) on the Cromford Canal.
In both instances, Chris looked after us well, improved our skills & also is accompanied by a lovely dog.
The Derwent is a lovely route on the river with some slightly rougher waters for beginners to river canoeing or those who want to canoe again & the cromford canal route is perfect for nervous canoers / kids who want to experience it for the first time.
Highly recommended.
Thanks again to Chris for two great paddles.

Our group of 11 had a fantastic morning with Chris, learning how to canoe. He was very patient with our varying needs, and expertly managed to get us all paddling straight within a very short time. Some of us were even confident enough to play some games, which included swapping boats.

Chris is a really great teacher and some of his passion for canoeing has inspired some of us to start looking to take up canoeing.

Forgot to mention Barney, who is the star of the show!

Thanks again Chris.

Recently went on a canoe trip with my daughter with Peaks and Paddles and can highly recommend them. Chris, the owner is a lovely guy, entertained us both really well and is full of tales of adventure. As great as Chris was though, the real star of the show is his dog Barney who receives gushing praise from every passer by and takes it all in his stride!

We booked Peaks and Paddles for a company team building exercise. The members of our group included both fit, confident twenty somethings as well as others who were a little nervous of being in a canoe for the first time in ages and a good few years older. Chris pitched things perfectly to ensure good, safe fun was had by all. Can therefore thoroughly recommend. And a special mention must go to Barney (Chris’s dog) who eyed the goings on with an air of haughty distain throughout!

Hi “Hi” Hello

This was a great family day out for adults and kids. We ranged in age from 5 to 50 and everyone had a great time apart from our schnauzer who fell in the canal!! Chris our leader was calm and patient although his dog Barney stole the show catching the ducks ( plastic) that we threw for him to catch, thanks for a memorable day!!
