We had a walk through the grounds today as the weather was dry and sunny.
Fairly good paths lead down to a lovely part of the Tweed River and up to the Union Bridge. We spent a good 3½ hours walking through the pathways and around the gardens and about an hour in the small museum on the first floor.
There currently is a little bit of excavation works going on, but it didn't really affect the walking.
Shame the waterwheel wasn't being demonstrated as promised - it doesn't look like it has been working for a long time.
The café is lovely, fairly expensive, but really nice.

Lovely find not far from Berwick. Lovely walk around the house with a treasure hunt and park for children and some interesting information and facts about the water pumping systems developed when the house was built. Great walk along the river tweed, camping and don't miss the ice house and the squirrel look out. Café Lovely too. Had a great time

What a great tour! The house is fantastic, nice cafe, staff really nice. The highlight was the tour, very informative lots of things to see and learn, great day out. The chain suspension bridge is worth seeing too, about a mile away, walk or drive.

Lovely day out. Make sure you book a guided tour beforehand. Cafe coffee is delicious and their food decent and not overpriced. Very pleasant walks in the grounds.

Guided tours to visit the house which has been restored to its original condition. A classic Palladian style Border’s mansion built around 1750. Adam designed with original Chippendale furniture and extensive artworks. No photography allowed in interior, relaxing cafe in stables block and toilets.

This is a beautiful house to visit with an astonishing art gallery attached. The long herbaceous border is well maintained. On the day I visited large numbers of swifts were flying around the portico.

The house and grounds are beautiful from the exterior. The grounds are massive and you can walk at your leisure - if you pay £7.50 for tickets. Not sure if you'd even have to pay to be honest, nobody is checking for tickets in the grounds. We weren't able to go inside the house as no 'house only' tour was available, and the house tours are guided only. The tours lasted approx 80 minutes which we didn't have spare.

Nice place to visit, bit confused at first wether it was open or not, but we once found reception, we had a great tour of the house by a very knowledgeable guide called Wilma. Afterward we wondered around the gardens and grounds down to the river, a very nice day out. Arrived by bus from Berwick which went right up to the house.
