Paul is an incredibly knowledgeable and personable guide. He is able to bring the ancient sites along Hadrian's Wall to life with a fascinating mix of facts and insight into the history of the Wall and the people that lived there. Highly recommended.

We loved our day touring Hadrian's Wall and the key historical sites! What a lovely, interesting, and thoughtful guide he is. He gives you just the right amount of background and insight and he knows this area so well. He was responsive to our long list of interests and we were able to get in a little hiking along the wall to add to our visits to Vindolanda, Housesteads and Chesters.You will feel immediately comfortable with Paul! I highly recommend him if you looking for a guide to make the most out of your visit to this area.

Walked coast to coast (Bowness to Arbeia) third week of May 2021 and had three tours on three consecutive days with Paul, encompassing Vindolanda, Chesters and Corbridge. Paul is an excellent guide and a subject matter expert on the archaeological sites and their broader historical context. Each site has its own unique story and learning about the vibrant history of these extraordinary cosmopolitan places perched on the northern frontier of the Empire is a wonderful experience. Like all good guides Paul has the ability to bring the archaeology to life drawing attention to and expanding on the key details and objects often missed by the casual visitor. We just got back from a fabulous tour with Paul. He’s simply expert but also personable and funny. We learned a lot and really enjoyed our afternoon both at Vindolanda as well as chatting with Paul. Very highly recommend!
