I've used PAL Hire several times, and while the hiring process always goes smoothly, their customer service is nonexistent. I off-hired the loo one week before my contract ended, but they collected it a month late and then charged me extra for their own delay and incompetence.

It gives me no joy to criticize but strongly believe in constructive feedback so here we are:

Arranged a digger hire for a week online with £500 refundable deposit paid-all good! Delivered promptly and collected when arranged. One week after return of plant i chased by email asking for deposit-no answer! Two weeks after i called and got a staff saying plant needs to checked for damages and only when depo confirms there are none my deposit will be processed?! I wrote a complaint and chased line manager as they should have already done that in those 2 weeks-NO ANSWER ON ANYTHING. Three weeks after i called again asking to speak to someone in charge-got connected to finance who explained how waiting for a month for refund of deposit is normal and i should not be alarmed?!? Theyy also explained my "case" was not handled yet as staff who did the hire is off sick?!? Confused 🙁 Frustrated etc. Now it is one more week (ONE MONTH IN TOTAL) and i still have not received any reply to my emails not i received my deposit back. Email that came after talking to finance is additional charge for fuel consumed (which i never objected in the first place) and which i have paid. Big improvements needed. Future customers need to be aware.
Extremely unprofessional, totally not client orientated.
Can not recommend. Will not be doing business with you ever again.

Avoid PAL Hire at All Costs

Our experience with PAL Hire was absolutely dreadful from start to finish. We hired a scaffolding tower, and the entire process was a nightmare. Communication was non-existent; I could never get hold of anyone when I needed to. When I finally did, the driver who showed up was incredibly rude.

To make matters worse, they completely ignored my repeated requests to arrange a pickup. In the end, I had to retrieve the equipment from the site myself and take it back to my unit—something I absolutely shouldn’t have had to do. They even tried to charge me for a failed delivery, which was outrageous.

When they finally collected the scaffolding, it took forever for them to return my refundable deposit, and they were needlessly awkward about the whole thing.

Awful service, unprofessional behavior, and a complete disregard for customers and employees alike. Do yourself a favour and steer clear of PAL Hire.

We were PAL clients for good part of 3 years until one of the toilet collected resulted in damaged/scratched floor. Although all the photos were given; PAL did not respond/entertained any of our complains so we decided not to use PAL anymore and stopped all our business and gave to another business.
Many reviews on here are very similar and I wish; if I had read them before engaging with PAL. Pointless dealing with a company who are good with taking money; but no after sales service.

We have been customers from Pal Hire for over 3 years, last month we had Portaloo on hire, for 4 consecutive weeks it was not serviced. when we flagged the problem we were told that the access was too muddy and that we needed to move the unit next to the road, which we did. I asked for a credit on our account, Jack Richardson called and advised that the cleaning of the unit was complimentary and not part of the hire, that if we wanted it serviced on a specific day that would be an extra charge! If you read this far, use local businesses and stay away from big brokers such as this one.

Pal Hire is by far the worst Hire Company we have ever worked with and I would advise all Main Contractors to avoid using them. They charge you with insurance that you cannot use because they do not notify you within the 30 day window that an item was not returned correctly.
To add to the insult they charge interest on this item that went missing and if you try to resolve the matter with a settlement out of Court they take you to Court anyway.

The Court selected is in Stockport (where they are based) so despite requests to change the location you cannot.
The Court system in the UK is understaffed and basically due to not attending, despite our lawyer confirming overwhelming evidence to support our case, the cost to go through with the case is more than the costs being charged so you have to pay regardless or risk higher costs in Court fees than the initial costs PAL Hire profess to needing payment on.

It would not shock me if this is all part of a scam by PAL Hire.
Given we use around £250K worth of hire equipment a year and this is the only case we have had in 10 Years...it does beg the question?

Honestly the worst experience and business to work with for Hire Equipment.
They sub the orders out to whoever they can find locally to your site and have a complete lack of communication on matters that they leave for years to build up the hire charge.

Looking forward to the next bubbly member of the sales team who rings up asking if we would like to use the 'service' they offer again!

Stick to the direct hire companies and avoid PAL HIRE!

The service that i received when i called Pal Hire to assist my business with hire of skips was amazing my Account manager Sam was extremely helpful as was Hannah from Sales, my skip was delivered on time and when it was filled by lunch time a new skip was organised and exchange happened within a day, I cant recommend Pal Highly enough. If your looking for a completely professional company who totally understand your needs and do the best they can to help while being polite and friendly then gibe them a call
