Tim was an excellent guide. He was very insightful about the city, its history and the university. Also, we really appreciated being in a small group.

We joined a group of 14 people (plus guide) led by Hao Tang (? I believe), a history undergrad at Pembroke College of Oxford. He gave a thorough tour with many colleges (alas, Bodleian was not open - ironically, if you had signed up for the print making workshop at the Bodleian that day, you'd be admitted, but the info about the workshop was not publicized anywhere online!)

We learned much about Oxford, as well as the life of a student, from the stressful admissions process, to the tough tutors (often experts with specialty in your chosen field) & how they mark one's papers, to the oral interview with a panel of tutors (much like PhD orals in the US) as part of the graduation requirements. His storytelling made Oxford come alive as a living, breathing institution of learning, but also as an institution of tradition. History being his major, Hao also described the history of the colleges & buildings we visited from that perspective, with an informed intellect that gave depth. Really worthy of the time (and £) spent.

We were also told about a few other places beyond the scope of this tour that were worth a visit (e.g. the original Blackwell's bookshop, especially its underground shelves). All good advice that we followed.

I do a walking tour in every city I visit and they’re usually amazing; unfortunately I wasn’t impressed with this one. The guide, Mathew, wasn’t very good as he treated it like a continuous comedy tour. Making people laugh is great, but it’s not a comedy show, it’s an informative walking tour where people are looking to learn. Also, it was marketed as a free/pay what you wish walking tour and 45 minutes in, he went around and forced everyone to pay something. When I asked if I could tip him at the end because I wanted to see what I thought of the tour and tip him accordingly (I always tip the guides), he said that wasn’t an option because sometimes people don’t pay at the end. It was very uncomfortable to be forced to pay not even halfway through the tour. I recommend using a different company for a nicer experience.

What an amazing experience! The tour is incredible and our guide, Sophia, was simply the best. The tour was a jam packed couple of hours with so much incredible information and history. Sophia, our guide, tailored the walk to our group and was an absolute font of knowledge and facts. She led us effortlessly around various parts of the University and answered every question each person asked. This tour is top notch!!

Had a fantastic tour with Kate today. Our group was small (3 of us) but she was friendly, engaging, and answered all our questions. We loved how she started the tour by asking if we had any specific areas of interest. When we told her we were interested in the history of Tolkien and CS Lewis she made sure to incorporate information about them throughout the tour. Highly recommend.

Our walking tour of Oxford University and surrounds with Jonathon was outstanding. His knowledge and personal experience with the university is exceptional which gave us great insight into the history, culture and lifestyle at Oxford. He shared some hidden gems that we wouldn’t have found ourselves and provided other hints and tips. Both our 21 year old daughter and ourselves agreed that it was one of the very best walking tours during our 5 week tour of the UK. Thoroughly enjoyed every aspect.

Simon was an excellent guide and very knowledgeable about each of the sites we visited. A group of only three in the tour group, I think this was a very nice way to experience and to learn about Oxford and the university being the first time visiting.

This is the best way to explore Oxford. We got an extra day in our trip and decided to go to Oxford. On our way we contacted the tour company and they offered us a private tour since we didn’t had a lot of time with us to explore and they couldn’t fit us in one of their existing tour time. Anyway, we were party of 6 and it made sense for our to do the private tour. Our tour guide was Andrew, who made the entire experience fun and interesting. He met us at the Oxford train station. We had great time at Oxford.
