Over the last few years they have really changed the place.
From an exposed municipal carpark to an exceptional nature reserve. A lot of effort and care has been given to the layout.
There are hides scattered about the trails with viewing windows at accessible heights. The paths are gravel and might be tiring for a hand propelled wheel chair.
There is no cycling on these paths. One looks like it might flood at very high tides.
There is a good kiosk on the beach front for ice cream, drink and savory snacks.

Lovely looped walk. The views are great, and the paths are nice and flat for those who are looking for an easy walk.
The car park costs £1 an hour or £2 for the whole day during winter months, and it will increase during the summer.
There are a few places you can park for free, but they are used by the locals so don't expect a space.

New Car Park at South Farm Road, Great viewing area for all the work done on restoration of the Otter Estuary.
Great place to start a walk or visiting the new bird hide well with a visit

The EA have done an amazing job creating this wetland area as part of their flood defence efforts. Well worth taking a walk around.
Avoid the expensive wetlands car park and park free on the road on the way in.

Beautiful area. Walk into Budleigh Salterton with its lovely town and coast or follow the river to Otterton Mill for coffee and a browse round the working mill.

It's a bit of a muddy car new park, but it's next to the new trail around the new Lower Otter reserve. £2 a day in winter, expensive in summer... groan ?
The trail itself is exactly half as wide as it needs to be, with people dodging greater than wildlife watching. Another example of our agencies and charities doing half a job.
