Hired a car for the day when we visited Orkney on a cruise last week. Lovely clean car ready for us as arranged, paperwork sorted in super quick time. Convenient location next to shuttle bus drop off point so we were on the road just after 9am. Visited all of the headline sites and back before 5. For 4 of us a very cost effective way of sampling a taste of Orkney. Thanks!

Lovely little car, almost new, and all went well with our hire. Easy pick up and return at Kirkwall office. Friendly staff.
A couple of things to watch out for when hiring:
- the car must be returned clean (inside and out) or there is an £80 cleaning fee. No jet wash or auto car wash allowed. Being on holidays and staying in a guest house, we found this challenging.
- I am an Australian living in the UK and have been a fully licensed driver for 36 years. I changed my Aus License to a UK license 8 months ago. Because I’ve held the UK license for less than 12 months, I was not allowed to be listed as a driver of the hire car for insurance reasons. Thankfully I was travelling with someone who met the license criteria and they were able to drive the car!

Very friendly simple process. Office is in a convenient place just off the main harbour road. Nice small car, a SEAT Mii, which I hadn't driven before but it was just right for us. If requested they pick you up and drop you off at the airport, so no hassle about collecting or dropping off the actual car at the airport. (Note: there may well not be any taxis at the airport when you arrive so this service is definitely to be recommended.)

I was able to hire a car with such short notice. Unfortunately I fell ill and needed to return to Australia before I could arrive at Kirkwall. My sister hired a car for a couple of days and we were very impressed with how kind and helpful the staff were and the car was very clean and perfect for getting around all the sites to see.
To all the staff and mainly the man that gave us the map and drew on little places to see that weren't on the map.
