5 at the beach was absolutely spotless when we arrived for our holiday. It has everything you need to have a nice home from home, the view of the beach is fantastic we really enjoyed waking up to that every morning. Everything you need is right on the doorstep. Only bad point if you were bringing young children is the noise on the street from the clubs nearby but this was only at weekends and did not affect our stay at all. Water is piping hot, but be careful how much bubble bath you put in because the water is soft you end up with bubbles galore. Would recommend and definitely stay again in the future.

We stayed for a week at The Smokery in Swanage, and thoroughly enjoyed it. A lovely property to stay in, with character, plenty of space and comfort. A pleasant walk into the town centre and to the beach, with trips out by boat and steam train; great coastal walks within a short drive and excellent village pub lunches!

We enjoyed a week's holiday in Swanage in a cottage managed by Wyke Dorset cottages. The management of the property was good: owing to Covid our booking had to be transferred from Easter 2020 and that was handled well by the company. Updates and reminders by email and SMS were helpful and timely. Cleanliness was very good. With this property having a lot of mod-cons it was likely that there would be some minor defects requiring maintenance that don't get picked up in the weekly change-over or reported by previous guests. When I phoned these through, the lady in the office made careful notes, read the list back to me and arranged for repairs.

After having some access issues on the first evening, these were resolved the following day, I cannot fault the rest of the holiday. The property was fabulous

The Wyke team have promised a refund of costs incurred on the first night and once the could get hold of me (signal in Dorset countryside can be hit & miss) they sorted the issue satisfactorily.

My family amd I have used Wyke for over 20 years and will book again, probably very soon.

Do not trust the booking system of this company!
We are very disappointed at having had 2 holidays booked for this year unknowingly cancelled by Wyke Dorset Cottages.
The reason given being a 'system error'
We were offered £100 to rebook at another property but at this late stage and the popularity of 'Staycations' this year most properties we would have considered are now fully booked for the Summer.
Reading reviews, we can see others have also had this experience.

Before I start can I say I was very happy with the owner and handyman, we had a couple of problems and they sorted things out. However I cant say the same about Wyke Dorset Cottages, as you can see from the recent reviews they are not dealing with things well and that’s reflected in the lack of customer service.

We were stuck in a standoff between Wyke Dorset Cottages and Vrbo over additional cost for dogs. This ended up in us feeling like we were held to ransom in order to be given the access details. We paid the extra £60 so we could access the cottage even though we booked in January (with dogs advised). In the current climate you would think customer service would improve, but not here. No one ever phoned us back, just received emails telling us to pay the extra, then text messages remining us we couldn’t get in until after 7pm and then had to be out by 9am to enable a deep clean, all I can say is that their idea and ours of clean were way off the mark.

Overall the approach of Wyke Dorset Cottages really tarnished our only holiday this year.

On the positive they respond to poor reviews on Google, but don’t seem to improve the service.

Please take note. We were IN the Holiday let when we were called and told to get out!! We were told that the Owner had told them , they had let it privately and Wyke did not not read the email. We were told we had been rebooked in a grotty flat , whilst we were in a sea front flat. I had 3 hours of awful conversations, as I refused to move. I had a genuine booking and I wanted to stay. They tried to offer me money and forced me to look at another sea front flat that was awful. They were very aggressive with me, It got to 7pm when finally they put the other booking in the substandard property. I enjoyed my stay and a month ago booked for next year. Yesterday they CANCELLED that booking and lied that the owner had double booked for next year Guess what. Checked the site and it is available. Sadly still no refund of deposit. Wyke are NOT to be trusted. It has nothing to do with Covid. They simply have a very poor booking system, do not answer emails and RUIN peoples holidays. Can you imagine, unpacking, relaxing, ready for a lovely weeks Holiday, only to be told to get out now. It was upsetting. As for the check in of 7pm. The cleaners are done by 11am and no reason to make you wait all day. I see I am not the only one who has fallen foul of this company. I have no response from emails and no refund. I will be asking for this company to be looked into as they are upsetting a lot of people. Holidays that are booked should be honoured. Please check , check and check before you go as I would not want anyone else to have the threat of eviction. It has happen to me twice so it can happen to you.
