An Extraordinary Experience.
My inaugural journey to Nepal with One Himalaya was an extraordinary experience, unfolding the breathtaking beauty of this diverse country. One Himalaya meticulously crafted a personalised itinerary, and the execution of our holiday by them was nothing short of flawless.
The Itinerary (The Nepal Explorer) is now open to all. It is a must-try, encompassing the Khopra Ridge trek, 3 days in Chitwan National Park, Everest helicopter tour, and immersive cultural events.
The team at One Himalaya deserves commendation for their unwavering commitment to ensuring our enjoyment. Service with a smile was the norm, and their foresight in engaging expert guides, a trekking duo (guide and porter) par excellence, a culinary maestro, a knowledgeable naturalist for wildlife excursions, and well-informed cultural guides truly elevated our experience.
Despite a temporary ban on tourist helicopter flights, One Himalaya seamlessly orchestrated alternative activities, showcasing their adaptability. The Khopra Ridge trek, initially the primary focus of my trip, was awe-inspiring, leaving me invigorated and yearning for more trekking adventures in Nepal. Exploring Kathmandu Valley, Pokhara, and Chitwan National Park, coupled with visits to cultural and heritage sites, made for a well-rounded experience. The culinary journey, featuring traditional Newari and Tibetan dishes, added a delightful touch to our adventure.
The fortuitous timing of our visit during the 2023 Dashain Festival enriched our journey, allowing us to partake in a local family's festivities. Rahul, Binod, and their family's hospitality left an indelible mark on us.
Special mention goes to our guide Nigma Sherpa and porter Sanga Chhombi for their exceptional support during the Kopra Ridge trek. They seamlessly managed guiding and looking after two people with very different walking speeds. Their patience, knowledge, and camaraderie enhanced the trek, especially the exhilarating snow trek from Khopra Dandan to Khayer Lake.
Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, revealed some of its wonders, but not the elusive Bengal tigers. Gray Langur monkeys with their silver fur, black faces, ears, fingers and toes put on wonderful athletic displays for us with their tails that are longer than their bodies. Our guide, the jeep driver and the naturalist all added to our enjoyment of exploring the park. Our unique night in a jungle tower, complete with unexpected culinary delights, added a touch of adventure as did a river crossing on our final day.
Beyond the landscapes, it was the Nepalese people who left an enduring impact. Their focus on preserving heritage and their unwavering pride in sharing their landscapes showcase the spirit of Nepal. The warmth and inclusivity of their culture, rooted in community and family, challenged my perceptions of development. The resilience of those in remote villages and Tibetan settlements was very impressive.
In essence, One Himalaya curated more than a holiday; they crafted an immersive journey through Nepal's soul, leaving me eager to return for more adventures, treks, and the coveted helicopter flight over Everest.
