Quiet and rural. Great cottage, clean and well presented, lovely hosts, plenty to see and do all round and good walks in Bungay and Beccles. The Buck pub has the best beer and atmosphere. The Aviation Museum is an absolute must visit.

Had the most relaxing holiday in beautiful surroundings and dog friendly too! Everything was clean and comfortable and the welcome pack included delicious home made cake. Two barn owls nesting nearby were seen daily and the wild life was fascinating. The hosts were friendly and helpful. An ldeal place for a quiet break away from it all.

Great place to stay, well presented, clean accommodation, friendly owners. Good location for touring Suffolk & Norfolk and within easy reach of the coast by car. Good for dogs with large field adjacent (owned by the Old Rectory) for walks and morning necessaries. Free wifi (subject to sitting in the right place due to Victorian walls!) Nice touches by owners in that a few basic provisions were supplied. (And beer from local brewery - St Peter's - which is always going to up the ratings 🙂

Last week, 15 to 22 April, in Orchard View was magnificent. Great accommodation for 2 plus a black lab, cowslips, daffodils, primroses, blackthorn and fruit trees, all in blossom, with a background of amazing birdsong. Thank you Jeanie and Keith: enjoy your cruise!

If we could give Jeannie and Keith more stars then we would, 5 just doesn't seem enough. Without a doubt the best cottages we have ever stayed in in Suffolk. We have just returned from our 3rd stay here at one of the wonderful cottages at The Old Rectory. We were greated by Keith who as always was very friendly and welcoming. We rented The Coach House this time and my parents were in Sams Stable nextdoor. We always really look forward to the delicious home baked cake from Jeannie which is waiting in the cottage on arrival, ready to be enjoyed with a nice hot cup of tea after our journey (there's milk left in the fridge also). Our dog knows there are treats left for him to. The cottages are spotlessly clean, home from home comforts, from tin foil down to a sewing kit, dishwasher (not that we needed it much becasue Jeannie takes all the washing up away if she provides dinner) large TV and DVD player, books, info on walks in the area and further afield, they even provide binoculars to use. The beds are extremely comfortable with the most wonderful cotton bedding, just what is needed for a good night sleep. Each cottage we hired had a secure garden (or courtyard for the other two cottages). We were able to let our Golden Retriever roam the garden at his leisure without having to worry where he was, the gate between the cottages can be left open if you want to so he actually had the use of two gardens and he made sure he visited both as often as possible because "Nanny and Grandad were nextdoor with treats too! The whole area is so quiet, you can hear the chattering of the birds and singing in the trees all day long and just get that overwhelming feeling of total relaxation and stillness when sitting in the garden on the patio sipping wine (even when the dog is rolling around the grass and pestering for more treats!)

When I booked I told Keith we would like to eat together each evening and they set up one of the cottages tables for 4 people for us (even though the cottages are just for 2 people) Every evening we had the most delicious meals prepared, cooked and delivered piping hot to our table by Jeannie, (which was already set up on arrival) at a time we required, she really is the most wonderful cook with a superb choice of menu. The slow roast lamb and roast pork dinners all went down a treat with the men, the fish pie and babotie was amazing too, such divine meals and desserts.

There is the brewery a short walk away. The Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum is just down the road in the opposite direction, which lends itself to hours of entertainment and information, all within walking distance. Dogs are allowed into the grounds and all buildings of the Aviation museum, even the naafi so you can have a nice rest, cup of tea and slice of cake before setting off to view the rest. A great day out for all the family.

Thank you Jennie and Keith for yet another relaxing and restful stay. We have now returned home to the chaos of our everyday lives but will count down the days when we can return to The Old Rectory and do it all over again in the autumn.
