Just had our second lovely stay at Oatfield Farm. This time we stayed in Campion cottage, which was perfect. We hired a hot tub, which was ready for our arrival. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We loved feeding the sheep and goats every evening, and even attempted a bit of tennis. There are lots of lovely places to visit a short drive away: we recommend St Briavels, especially The George pub which serves amazing seafood, Symonds Yat and Tintern Abbey. Our dog also loved her stay!

Went away Mon - Fri, 2 adults and 2 children aged 11 & 8 in Feb 2019. We all had a great time, cottage was well equipped, just watch the showers they can run very hot. We stayed in Pimpernel and had the hot tub available which we jumped in every day, children loved playing with the animals and using the tennis court and it was great they could wander up to the games room knowing they were safe without us.||Out and about we visited Cannon cycle centre and had a lovely family ride, children cycled the sculpture trail while we wandered behind them another day and on our final day we went to Chepstow castle with a stop on the way back at the beautiful Symonds Yat. First visit to the Forest of Dean but won't be our last, would love to canoe the river Wye next time. Great location, a relaxing break had by all.

This is a lovely location well positioned to explore the Forest of Dean. The cottage itself is well equipped and very clean. The owners Alison and Kate go out of their way to make you feel welcome. There are sheep and goats to feed on the farm but the best attraction is their pig called George who is a right character. There is a games room for the children plus a tennis court and sauna for the older family members. The grassed area is also great for playing croquet and boules (all supplied). This really is a holiday destination not to be missed and we cannot recommend this quiet tranquil location enough.

Great stay over half term. We stayed in Pimpernel which was well equipped, watch the shower it gets very hot! Children adored running around with the animals, the tennis court and games room and the addition of a hot tub outside the back door was great. Good location for getting out and exploring the area.

Booked a last minute trip for the Easter weekend, quick communication from the owners arrived to a basket of fresh local produce. Stayed in old stables, plenty of room and had everything you could need. We had our own small garden where the sun sets in the evening.||||The adjacent games room with pool table, table football etc was great for the kids/big kids, plus there's a tennis court and grass area with loads of outdoor games and equipment for you to use. Board games and DVD's for the evenings. Animal feeding also available.||||The location is beautiful, on the doorstep of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley with loads of activities available. Also close by is a good Italian restaurant (La Dolce Vita) and craft cider farm (Severn Cider). Recommended.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a lovely long weekend at Oatfield. We stayed in Pimpernel (the converted barn) with our dog. The grounds were beautiful and so peaceful- we had no phone signal what so ever which only added to the peace and tranquility of the setting! ||The welcome hamper on arrival was lovely, 2 bunches of fresh flowers, home made bread and jam, and freshly laid eggs from the chickens on the farm, along with lots of other goodies. ||The facilities in the barn were fab, great walks from the door and beautiful views. Lovely private garden with a low picket fence around and wood fired hot tub on the terrace, it took a lot of work for heat up but worth it once it was warm enough ๐Ÿ™‚ ||

Stayed here for 4 nights . Was greeted by the owners and blown away by this beautiful cottage. Itโ€™s a renovated threshing barn and massive with beamed open ceilings and a huge log burner with logs provided . There was an amazing welcome pack with local fresh produce and warm bread baked by the owner. The four poster bed was very comfortable and we woke to birds singing and nothing else. On the farm they have goats with kids 2 weeks old and pet sheep that come to you for some fuss . There is a tennis court , wood fired sauna and hot tub option which we took and sat facing the woodland watching the birds roost with a glass in hand . There are lovely walks from the farm itself or so much woodland and nature trails to keep you busy . I recommend you visit the mines and the ancient wood over the road that feels magical and has a tea room that serves a mean cream tea. There is even a play area for the kids. ||The local takeaways in Lidney , 3 mins away, are both great and the Mexican is really nice . We went to The Cock Inn a few times they do food and plenty of non alcoholic drinks ! They even have a gin that tastes like gin which as I canโ€™t drink at the mo was amazing . ||I canโ€™t praise this cottage and the area enough . I highly recommend for a nice quiet weekend or a week exploring the Forest of Dean and a ride on the steam train . Donโ€™t think twice just book it , you wonโ€™t regret it !

We had a very enjoyable stay at Oatfield, the hosts Alison and Kate were very accommodating and the welcome pack for both humans and dogs was very well received. The setting is perfect for those with a young family and dogs. The games room was well used with the table tennis, pool and table football. A good selection of dvds is available as well as books and toys. Overall an excellent place to stay and explore the forest of Dean and all its attractions. For us the only downside was a lack of WiFi in the actual cottage. It is available but only in the information office. Combined with the lack of 4G coverage we were unable to stream music or Netflix etc. Which whilst for some this may not be an issue it did affect our enjoyment somewhat. However we would definitely consider returning.
