Such a well maintained abbey. Been visiting a few abbeys in the last few years around Midlands and southern England, but this one is different. High arches and big courtyards are great to see. Nice little parking. People can spend time on mats and enjoy some snacks and drinks. Do bin your litter.

Beautiful Abbey with a fascinating past . It was quiet at our time of visit and we took our time walking around the grounds in the sunshine. It's incredible to see such an old structure still standing , a real testament to the quality of the construction . A must visit if you're in the local area. You can park directly in the grounds .

One of the best preserved ruins of Cistercian monasteries in england. It's dog friendly and entrance is free of charge. Sadly, there are no picnic tables around.

Netley Abbey, a ruined 13th-century Cistercian abbey in Hampshire, offers a captivating glimpse into medieval England. Its picturesque skeletal structure, framed by ancient trees and peaceful grounds, evokes a strong sense of history and tranquility. While only ruins remain, the scale and intricate details still visible are impressive. It's an ideal spot for a quiet walk, photography, or a picnic, and its proximity to Southampton Water adds to its charm. Highly recommended for history enthusiasts and those seeking a peaceful escape.

A tucked away awesome piece of history. A fantastic ruin with historical boards to tell you about its history. It is surrounded by a large green and was relatively quiet, when I visited It has a small car park which is free. It is a nice place to visi, however it doesn't take much time to wander around, so it's not an all day location.

Very large ruins surrounded by a beautifully mowed lawn! A surprise to come across this oasis of history and green-ness (is that even a word?!) in the middle of housing estates. Lots of useful information boards around - but not too many! Seems a popular spot for locals to have picnics! The underground plumbing (small stream) still flowing after all these years....Small, free, parking (but if full there is a lot of street parking only a minute or two away). English Heritage site with free entry. No facilities so no toilets, no food. Really enjoyed this impressive building and worth a visit on a bright sunny day like today.
