This place is beautiful, in a wonderful location on a hill overlooking Scapa Flow to the west providing stunning sunsets to sit and watch. Sunsets can be watched from the house or with a short walk, down on the beach (take a torch, when it sets, it's dark!).

We stayed in Netherbutton 2, the smaller cottage that sleeps four people; a double and a twin room. It's furnished in a modern style, very comfortable and very clean. It's also wonderfully warm with excellent heating from a boiler that also powers the delightful separate shower or can quickly fill a hot bath. Whilst described as the smaller cottage, it's plenty of space for four people with a large kitchen (including dining table) and a good sized lounge area.

Our host Shirley was very welcoming and very helpful, even when we arrived quite late on in the evening.

In summary, this was a wonderful home to relax in and use as a base to explore the history and landscapes that Orkney has to offer. We will definitely be going back.
