Closed when we visited but nearby canal towpath was great, and the loos were useful. Note CP council pay and display but not too expensive.

This isn't a visitor's centre in the sense you may be used to at other places - it's incredibly small. There are toilets, and a single room with some displays about the history of the place and nothing more. The displays are quite informative. There is a cafe and pub the other side of the bridge. These were both shut when I visited. The Middlewood way is accessible with pushchair or wheelchair if you use the access slope on the side of the bridge opposite the visitors centre.
