Why not visit when you have a chance to free view through National Trust walking tracks.. Visiting ancient Stonehenge was a unique experience, full of history and mystery. This is UNESCO World Heritage Site and this prehistoric site was built around 5,000 years ago which offers to have a glimpse into ancient engineering and astronomical alignments.
Its a nice walk through woods and open fields. Better to visit this stone circle early in the morning or late in the afternoon for less crowded and getting nice photos. This is located in open fields with wild beauty. So you can enjoy more while walk around as I love fields full of yellow flowers. It's one of must visit place and highly recommend.

We had a lovely visit to Stonehenge, not been before. I think our visit exceeded our expectations. Easy free & ample parking. We are NT members so entrance was also free. Glad we decided to visit out of season so could get around without the crowds. Some great photo opportunities around the stones. We were disappointed that we could not take our dogs on the shuttle bus and neither around the stones You can get up to the last gate just a few yards from the stones where a member of staff/ security advise that dogs aren't allowed any further but you have an opportunity to then access the adjacent public right of way and walk a little further but not around the stones. My wife stayed with our dogs while i went around the stones to take photos. The walk each way between the visitor centre and the stones is a good mile along a private road with a designated pedestrian lane. Overall a very nice visit. The staff in the visitor centre where dogs are allowed were very friendly.
The staff at the stones did offer an explanation of why dogs were not allowed around the stones but we didn't think that it was plausible. This was the only negative point and i think EH/NT should re-think this so everyone can fully enjoy the stones.

Stonehenge is basically in two parts. There is the parking area, Ticket Sales booth, Shop, Exhibition Hall, Restaurant, even re-creations of the dwellings the builders lived in while erecting the stones.
The Actual Stones aren't even visible from this area but a steady supply of custom buses are on standby. You can also walk to the stones in about 45 minutes.

Had a fantastic visit, which the whole family really enjoyed.
The adults had visited many years ago, the first time for the kids(2 & 5) who found it magical.
Easy parking. Thought the new (to us) visitor center was amazing. We loved the video & artifact displays. It was really well done, informative & inspiring. The walk to the stones added to the expectation & experience. The atmosphere at the stones really is special & has to be experienced. Honestly think everyone should visit Stonehenge at least once.

Truly magical, and a must have experience. I paid extra for the inner circle experience and have to say it makes all the difference. You feel instantly connected to the stones and can truly take in the sheer size of them! The tour guide was brilliant and informative and answered everyone's questions. I returned with my autistic 7 year old who also loved the experience and is begging to go back. Will be bringing a picnic next time

A great place to visit, definitely worth seeing the visitors exhibition really helps explain what you are going to see. I would say try see the exhibition before you get bus or walk to stonehedge itself. Just watch out for the price of sausage rolls and a cup of tea. Friendly informative staff. Enjoy your visit 👍

Truly is a mysterious place to visit. A very strange feeling walking round the monument and the mind boggles thinking how they managed this so long ago.
Fyi National trust members can visit this place for free. Wish we knew this before purchasing the English heritage membership. But all to worthy cause so wasn't too disappointed.
