National Trust - Petworth House and Park - Petworth

Visiting Petworth House is a great way to spend a few hours. Impressive artwork, including many Turner paintings, sculptures, a Chapel, a deer park, servants quarters, well kept gardens and a cafe with plenty of seating.

I found the Main House interesting, and the furnishings gave an idea of how life may have been, but I always like visiting the servants quarters, as they give me more of a feel for the character of the House. The Guides were very informative and came up with interesting facts which added to the experience.

The House is about a ten minutes walk from Reception, with a slight incline in places. There is a large car park which was showing as "full" when I arrived, but I, and the cars following behind, managed to find a space.

A very interesting property, the exterior is not much to shout about, looks more like a prison block however the interior is quite amazing with highly painted walls and ceilings by famous artists. The hanging art collections are a joy to view and the staff were very informative and helpful. Also visited the Turner vision exhibition which was a little disappointing. Overall a very pleasant day out but more for adults rather than children.

A historical house, tones of arts and sculptures.

History is speaking via a every bricks.

And as cheery on top, there's hundreds of deer roaming around by the house park. What more can you ask.

I parked my car by the deer park entrance,, started walk and enjoyed the lovely ponds and deer. Then went to the house.

Went for a lovely day out with my teenage daughter. We first explored the big grand house which was full of interesting artwork and statues along with the servants kitchens and quarters. We then took a stroll around the beautiful grounds down to the lake which was stunning. It was full of wildlife and many geece and ducks. It was a very hot day so unfortunately we didn't see any deer as I think they were shading themselves much further away in the wooded areas. We then walked back to the lovely cafe for refreshments before leaving. This place is truly beautiful and well worth a visit. Will definitely be retuning. Highly recommend coming for an enjoyable day out.

Very grand house of historical importance, with large gardens/grounds, run by the National Trust. You can enter the house & view the servants quarters, kitchen, formal rooms & bedrooms. (Only certain times/days a few of the bedrooms/family formal rooms are open).
There are several magnificent paintings & statues to see as well. Recommend visiting.

So far I've been here twice and it's been incredible both times. Volunteers are nice, toilets are clean and cafe is decently large. The village is nice too. The house has a large selection of Greek statues and pots, as well as paintings and beautiful China.

We had a lovely time in Petworth Park, we played ball games, flew kites, had a picnic and soaked up the sun and beautiful scenery.
The children particularly love running and rolling down the hill.
We started our day with a snack and drink for the well supplied coffee shop.
Had a mooch in the lovely gift shop.
We ended our day with a delicious ice cream.
