Honestly 10/10 experience.

I had an unbelievable time with Mark from Mountain Journey. I took the Mrs for an introductory outdoor climb and he was so warm and welcoming. We’ve climbed before but only inside, Mark made everything so easy and straight forward. It was also fairly priced.

We will be back!

We did gorge scrambling with the whole extended family, ranging from kids aged 10 to 13. It was an absolute hoot!

Mark, the guide, was just tremendous. He was super patient even before the booking and answered all our questions, ultimately guiding us to the perfect activity for our group.

Then during the activity, I've never seen such composure! He made us feel at ease and safe straight away, and was both patient and informative (and funny!) as he took us through the river.

We will be returning to him every time we come back to the Lakes!

Highly recommend for young and old.

This was our third time out with Mountain Journey’s. And each time just gets better. It really is so much fun. Mark led us up Stickle Gyhll, which had some challenging water falls to climb, but Mark is so experienced I knew we were in safe hands. It has to be one of the best experiences you can do in the lakes.

Cycling 46km through the Lake District with Mark was an amazing experience! The sceneries and routes are beautiful and exhilarating.

Mark is very well-versed with the cycling routes around the area and could adapt quickly based on the weather and my comfort level for cycling through rockier and hilly terrains.

Although it is my first time cycling on more challenging natural hilly terrains, a good bicycle from Ghyllside Cycles (Ambleside) + cycling guidance from Mark + trusting my own leg muscles allowed me to complete a cycling adventure that I will never forget!

Would definitely recommend individuals who wish to go on cycling adventures at the lake District to reach out to Mark!

We (family of four) had an absolute blast ghyll scrambling with Mark. He was very knowledgeable and able to advise what activities would be suitable for particular preferences/ages. An unforgettable experience and must do if you're visiting the lakes and seeking an adventure.

Mark was, initially, very quick to respond to my initial query, we were looking for a few different activities to do over a weekend in the lakes, 2 adults and 2 children aged 9 and 10. Mark arranged for us to do some gorge scrambling, a plunge in the frigid waters of the gorges and also some rock climbing. We spent 2 days with Mark over the weekend and we had a fantastic time. The kids loved it and we were equally impressed. Mark was safety conscious, educational and most importantly he made the whole experience so much fun. I thought the prices were extremely reasonable and would absolutely recommend Mark. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

An absolutely fabulous day together with Mark on Pinnacle Ridge on St. Sunday Crag in The Lake District. The whole experience was superb. Always felt completely safe and yet also appropriately challenged and exhilarated. Mark is an extremely pleasant guide and couldn't have been more encouraging and enthusiastic.

Mark took my nephew and I canyoning in the Langdale valley over the weekend (02/03/24). Although it was very cold, we had a wonderful time scrambling up the Ghyll and climbing two waterfalls. Mark was an excellent guide full of knowledge and easy to chat to. Highly recommended!
