We had a wonderful holiday touring Tuscany. The hotel was basic * (3 star) clean and tidy. Hotel staff were kind and tried very hard to cater for my Gluten Intolerance (Celiac Disease). The Mistral Rep was a SUPER STAR. His name was ALDO, his management skills were 1st Class. He kept us all safe and well informed. We had plenty of laughs along the way and he made our excursions fun and memorable. Aldo kept working to the very last minute helping arrange Special Assistance in the Airport on our way home. A huge Thank you to Aldo *** (5 stars for Aldo).

This holiday, to the Puglia region of Italy, was the second time booked through Mistral Holidays. We booked with them again because the first one (Pisa area the year before) was so good (and this one was no disappointment either). The hotel was called the Riva Marina Resort and we were half board with drinks included. We love buffet style meals and the range of food for both breakfast and dinner was extensive and suited us perfectly. We ate at the same table as others in our tour group, which again suited us as it helps to get to know people you've met for the first time. The restaurant was a large hall, which it needed to be to cover the amount of guests, but was great for getting around the large food displays on offer. There was even free pizza at the swimming pool area throughout the day. The hotel had three swimming pools, various sports areas, a gym, sauna, crazy golf, a wellness centre, children's play area and an amphitheatre that put on entertainment nightly for children/families. A "road train" takes guests to the hotel beach and there were ample flat walking routes within the resort. The rooms were clean and spacious and staff were friendly. The holiday included excursions on different days to places like Lecce, Ostuni, Matero, Locorotondo, Martina Franca and, most memorably, Alberobello, which is a UNESCO world heritage site with "Trulli" conical-roofed houses. These houses are stunning, dating back to the 14th century and there are still local inhabitants living in some of them. I would point out that Matero is built on a slope, so steps are involved when walking (36-40 degrees heat when we were there in June), but various viewpoints are available at the top which give fantastic views. Our Tour Manager, Armando, was very knowledgable and friendly, giving out printed information sheets about the excursions, hotel and local facilities (something we always find particularly helpful) as well as answering all queries verbally. Lastly, the Mistral representatives are all very knowledgable, professional and friendly. We like the fact that we can speak to them over the phone to book the holiday(s) rather than Internet booking, as it gives the opportunity to ask any/all required questions/clarifications both then and at any point. The only "downside", if you want to call it that, was having to check in for flights with Ryanair online, as the procedure involved putting photographs onto the screen (to prove ID), something we are not very proficient at, but would be second nature to most people I suspect. The check-in procedure is outwith Mistral's area of control I hasten to add! Thank you for everything, we look forward to travelling with you again.

My wife and I, together with two friends, stayed in the Riva Marina Resort in Puglia in the last full week of September. The accommodation was excellent although the restaurant facilities were more akin to canteen and very noisy. Having said that, the rest of the facilities were very good and the staff were excellent.
There were four trips during the week of which we went on three. The company representative, Armando, deserves a 5 star+ rating. He went over and above what could be expected, arranging transport for a couple of clients who found the walk back to the coach following trips tiring. Also his local connections to the places we visited together with his stories raised the visits to another plane, he is a star!

We had a lovely time with Mistral. Good hotel, good food. Where the hotel was situated was close to the lovely walk along the prom. Trips were good with a lovely guide who slot about everywhere. Will definitely go with them again .

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in Sept 2024 ..A Taste of Tuscany and Florence..The Hotel Capelli, our base, was idealy located, very accomodating, and the staff very friendly and helpfull. My wife and I really enjoyed the pre-arranged tours, and wine tastings, and the tour guide Christina worked hard to ensure the group was kept well informed of the places we visited.
We would happily recomend Mistral to friends and family, and look forward to arranging an Italian break with them again in the future.
thanks,
Tery and Val

We returned a week ago from the Undiscovered Italy trip to Puglia, Lecce and Matera. If you are thinking of going there with Mistral Holidays, DON’T, BEWARE! We have been to Italy before and were really looking forward to seeing this part of Italy. However the hotel was in the middle of nowhere and supposedly 4* and according to the brochure there was a nearby village Specchiolla where you could find restaurants, a bar, and a shop if you wanted to in the evening but there was nothing there, just a shop and very small coffee bar, otherwise dead!
The hotel apparently according to Mistral is 4* by the Italian Authority. It’s more like a 2/3* Italian Holiday Camp (campeggio) for the Italians which they like (we know this as there was a half Italian couple in our party) and can accommodate 1500. The accommodation was more like concrete chalets, basic and outdated but clean.
The restaurant was similar to a big school dinner hall, bright lights and a buffet at dinner and breakfast. Only 2 choices for main course dinner with vegetables, so not your Italian or Mediterranean cuisine you would expect in Italy and more often than not cold and on cold plates.
The entertainment was all in Italian and focused around the children, very loud and got louder as the evening went on until midnight. So loud we could hear it in our room 200 metres away with the door and window closed.. No entertainment in English for adults.
It was not a cheap holiday, cost us £3000 for a week.
The only positive outcome were the excursions and we got to eat at a lovely Trattoria Osteria restaurant.
I wish we had gone with an alternative provider for the same holiday, where the hotels they use are lovely 4* hotels in Lecce where lots of restaurants etc are.
We have complained to Mistral but they are basically not interested once they’ve got your money and then they had the cheek to send us an email to vote for them in the Travel Awards.
We will never travel with Mistral again or recommend them, there are better alternatives out there, so don’t waste your well earned money.
