Had a fabulous trip to Mallorca led by Rosie and Ben in April 2025. This is the second of their walking adventures I’ve been on and the first one that was abroad. It was absolutely excellent. Rosie and Ben put the utmost care into every aspect of the trip from planning the routes, to sharing knowledge of local flora, fauna and history, to making sure everyone feels included.

The locations they chose for walks, accommodation and food are magical. Their trips are really special and I’ll definitely be booking another one in the not too distant future.

I was in the same group as Nancy and can confirm her experience of a really wonderful week's walking with friends around Ullapool guided by Ben and Robbie. Fabulous scenery, varied walks taking in moorland, hills, coasts and beaches. Perfectly adapted to some ageing knees and our interests (wildlife, history, as well as lots of chatting and laughter), with excellent accommodation and sampling of local restaurants. Highly recommended to anyone, even if you are not an experienced walker.

Just home from an amazing group hiking experience in Gran Canaria with McKenzie Mountaineering. There were 6 of us in the group and 2 wonderful guides; Rosie and Ben.
We learnt so much about the history, geography, flora and culture of this beautiful island, from our guides. The hiking days were seamlessly planned and organised, the pace was good for all levels of ability and all the overnight accommodation was excellent.
In the evenings, the locations for dinner, drinks and socialising had been organised and we would spend time getting to know each other and relaxing!
It really was the best active holiday I have been on and Rosie and Ben also organised the perfect weather! 🤣😂.
I recommend McKenzie mountaineering and their Hiking Highlights of GC, highly, but I’m sure all their tours and itineraries would be brilliant, because R & B are excellent at their jobs.

What an amazing Holliday we have had. Fresh back from a 6 day hiking holiday in Gran Canaria & absolutely buzzing from the experience.

Our group was mixed ability and Rosie & Ben were excellent at attending to the different needs of the group. Everything was so well planned, taking all of the hassle out & leaving us to thoroughly enjoy the breath taking views and absorb the Canarian culture.

Rosie & Ben were fabulous guides & even more fabulous companions, giving us loads of laughs, lots of culture, a wealth of geological & botanical knowledge, and above all, a blossoming friendship.

It is honestly the best holiday I have ever had and I’m now planning another bespoke trip for my family with McKenzie mountaineering. Can’t wait.

They specialise in a variety of exciting trips and tours, including long-distance trails, multi-activity days, hill walking group adventures from one day to multi-day trips in the Scottish mountains as well as walking tours further afield. Their adventures range from very small group walking trips in a variety of destinations to 1 day walks from their base in Ullapool. Very nice 👌

It is always difficult to select where are the best places to walk when you go for a hike in an unfamiliar location. I found this out to our cost when walking last week around Wick. Plenty of Boggy/soaked ground to traverse and a plethora of barbed wire to be navigated.
No such problem the week before in the Ullapool area. We had teamed up with Ben & Rosie and asked them to take us on some interesting and challenging walks in the Ullapool area. They did a lot of research for us on suitable challenges that still avoided the worst of the weather and the ground conditions and gave us a miriad of options to choose from. McKenzie, having the resources to do linear walk also helped massively to open up the possibilites which we, on our own, would not have been able to accomplish easily.
Well done you two and thank you for making it a trip to remember.

Just back from an Ullapool based week walking with Ben and Robbie. What a delight. I was so impressed by their ability to quickly assess our group's interests, capabilities and preferences and then tailor the programme to match. They kept us away from hot-spots which might be 'too busy'. In Scottish mountains of course, they had to factor in the weather which was as varied as the terrain, landscapes, wildlife,
points of interest on all our walks. Any possibility of boredom totally eliminated!
All they while Ben was making sure the domestic arrangements went smoothly, organising food, great accommodation, transport.
A truly restorative experience in a beautiful place. 5 stars is hardly enough.

Top rate. A well-organised week of walking around Ullapool and further north, led by two experienced, interesting, knowledgeable and likeable local guides--Ben and Robbie. They skillfully adapted the walks to the capabilities (and knees) of our group of (let's admit it) no longer young but historically experienced group, taking us on interesting, relatively challenging scenic routes, often off-piste. Very competent guiding. Outside the walks, the accommodation, food bookings etc. were handled effectively and efficiently. Rating? Six out of five. Highly recommended.
