We had a meal at Mama Liz's today for my mum's birthday. A table of 12, and every single meal that was served was delicious! right down to the chips, we were really impressed, we felt that the prices were very reasonable considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes! We will definitely be coming again in the near future, please please keep your chefs 😊. the guy who served us was also fantastic, really friendly and welcoming and great service throughout. thank you for making this occasion special 💕

We cannot believe it took us so long to discover this place! Very tasty food, carnival like detour, great cocktails with fresh ingredients and friendly staff. What could be better? We had the cajun platter (ribs and chicken) and margaritas, and our vegan diner had a burger (also tasty). Will definitely be coming again.

Visited this venue for an event that was put on here.

Great decor and well presented venue, although a bit of a funky and unpleasant smell around the stairwell accessing the downstairs area, potentially an issue with drainage?

Staff were friendly and professional, drinks cost about the same as you would expect anywhere else, also a few cocktails on offer.

Unfortunately marked down for the atmosphere, although this was pleasant at first this seems to be one of the hot spots for the younger crowd who seem to struggle holding their alchohol. As the night went on there seemed to be quite a few people carrying attitude, and also a couple of scuffles broke out downstairs where the event I attended was taking place as the "regulars" had found their way down. In the end me and my partner left the event early as could see how it was going and the atmosphere turning for the worse.

All in all I'm sure it's quite a nice place if you visit at the right time, I'd recommend avoiding at the peak times over the weekend though.

Called in for lunch so wasn't as busy as it is in the evenings. The Goat curry was very tasty and the corn bread was delicious. The chap behind the bar was welcoming and offered great service.

The place could do with some airing out as it still smelt of the night before and the toilets need a little tlc too.

Overall an enjoyable lunch with great food that offers something a little different in the area.

Restaurant review: Being a fan of Caribbean cuisine, I was very intrigued to see goat curry on the menu, so naturally that's what I ordered... and it was beautiful!

Tender, fall-off-the bone meat, perfectly seasoned, nice level of spice, cooked to perfection rice. Extremely impressed!

My better half had the chili con carne, this was more akin to a stew (in the best way). Tender chunks of steak, that familiar, homely con carne flavour, complimented with jalapenos and tortillas. Lovely.

In summary: Fantastically cooked "soul" food, generous cocktails, a laid back atmosphere and a welcoming and personal service has cemented Mama Liz's restaurant as one of my personal top spots in the area.

PS. The local craft ale was an added bonus 👍
