What an amazing place to visit. The grounds are superb and the castle reconstruction is going great guns. The rose garden, in particular, is beautifully set out. It has a fantastic children's adventure playground in amongst the trees. There is also a great cafe with decent food too. Make sure you check out the fantastic view from the escarpment and see the bullfrogs in the pond.

Magical place, viewpoints are stunning, lovely coffee shop in the woods, huge open gardens. The regenerated gardens are in their infancy in parts, definitely on the revisit list for a few years time to see how they have developed! Rose garden smells unreal!

What a beautiful castle and grounds. Plenty of open space to wander and have a picnic. Great grounds with a lovely cafe indoors, with plenty of outdoor seating inside the square of the castle grounds.

The cafe had a super selection of fresh meals and great bakery products as well.
Ice cream parlour was delicious.
Parking very reasonable at £2, can be paid at the restaurant.

School holiday fun. We had a wonderful time at Lowther castle the place and the gardens were beautiful and the kids adventure playground is wonderful! My daughter fell and hurt herself and the staff were amazing so kind and accommodating and honestly made it much easier. We will be back and keep up all the good work with updaping the building and the grounds look fantastic.

Fabulous place to visit. Romantic, but very impressive ruins. Food in the cafe was lovely. We opted for a light pizza each and my whipped feta, pear and walnut was divine! Lovely to see the gardens being brought back to life. The newly planted Rock, Japanese and sweet scented gardens will be wonderful once established. We didn't have our granddaughter with us, but the children's play area is amazing, and we will definitely return with her in the future. Well worth a visit.

An absolutely unique place to visit, just off the M6.

The gardens are beautiful and the owners are expanding their size and variety.

The back story of the house and it's colourful owners is alone worth a visit.

Great for children too and completely dog friendly.

Absolutely blown away by this place. Arrived just after opening and the car aprk had already started to fill up. Lots of people bringing their dogs and children in prams. We arrived and walked to the front of the castle and into the courtyard, which looked very tidy and picturesque. We had pre booked our tickets so we walked straight up to the till with our code and the lady was lovely and told us everything there was to do and gave us a handy little map. There was a brief history of the building with amazing art work and artefacts. After this you get to see inside the ruins which are currently being worked on by the builders which really got my kids interested in what they were doing. The rose garden was beautiful, the lovely staff member gave us all a rose head that they needed to dead head and they smelt brilliant! The gardens were beautiful and there was swings and things to look at and see all the way around. Lastly is the massive climbing area at the back of the sight which kept my children entertained for hours! Great trip will definitely be going back!

Lovely place to spend the day walking around and chilling out. I was quite surprised how big the gardens are, lots of places to sit and enjoy especially on a sunny day, there's also play areas to keep the little angles happy, will definitely go again when I'm in the area.
