Such a lovely experience, driving accross the causeway and the old Abbey is stunning in its unique island setting, with sense of peace and calm within the walls. £23 entry for both of us. We ate our butties in what would have been the monks quarters. Stunning views of the castle and lovely walks around the island. We also walked just beyond the castle to the beach, where you can also walk into the old salt stores. Great day .... would recommend ?

Sue Gray, I do hope the owner of the shop David is aware of the loss of business your causing over the 9 years you’ve ran his shop….

terrible experience today at what seemed to be a friendly welcoming shop from the outside until we came across the monster running the place.

Me and my partner saw this beautiful hand crafted axe which my son collects in the window which is what drew us in to look further, i took a innocent picture to send to him to see if he would like me to buy it but then… a very angry, arrogant stuck up blond very elderly woman (i say woman lightly) barged out her office and angrily demanded “don’t be taking no photos” which I politely said “there’s no signs to state this, sorry”.

she then abruptly shouted “well you shouldn’t be taking pictures anyway!!” it was then I told her I was taking it to show my son and now she’s lost a sale which she didn’t apologise.

As we started to walk out she then returned to her phone call calling us names as we walked out. It’s fair to say, we shared our thoughts on her manner and arrogance which I don’t think she was expecting. If you talk to people with that attitude then you will get the same energy amplified back…

reading other reviews about this “woman” she hasn’t learned her lesson. All I can say is karma always comes for these types of low vibe people.

VERY UNPROFESSIONAL…. A sign needs to be clearly put up advising no photos.

What business do you know that doesn’t allow their shop/products to be shared to others. That’s what drives business. It seems this lady running the shop is too old to understand how businesses work these days.

See below for some other reviews, same stories… imagine how many people she’s done this too.

A large island with a ruined priory and castle. Remember to check the tide times to cross the causeway.

Probably the worst shop on the whole island, one of those places where customers service is non-existent.

I went in the shop to have a look around, looking for books on Northumbrian history and finally found the one I was after for £25.

I get a text, check my phone while holding the book, next thing I know the woman behind the counter yelled at me saying "no photos, no photos, it's just polite to ask first" three times at me with an awful attitude. Then stating "they think they can get away with anything" is a ridiculous way to speak to someone.

I was checking a damn text, even if I was taking a photo it would be off a book I was about to buy. There are no signs/notices regarding this arbitrary rule anyway, book/gift shops are never petty like this.

People are not going to buy from you if you are so uncalled for and rude to them. You lost a sale. Also, put a sign up if you are so precious about no photos.
