A lovely little place just southwest of Aviemore and surrounded by woods and sheep pastures. It was the perfect place for our Highlands getaway.

Stag's Hide is well equipped and well maintained making for an incredibly comfortable stay with nothing to worry about. The hot tub is an added bonus.

The book of nearby local attractions/activities binder also has all the house rules answers to the questions you have while staying there, as well as emergency contacts. Also a binder full of user manuals for the appliances (helpful for an American vacationer, lol) making you feel like you're really being cared for without any overbearing contact from the owners/operators, Colleen and Annabel.

A really delightful place to stay. We really didn't want to leave... 🖤

Super relaxing mid week break at Stag’s Hide. Well equipped lodge with some lovely quality finishing touches to make the place feel like home from home. The views from the windows are absolutely stunning looking over the Cairngorms, and the hot tub perfect in both night and day thanks to the secluded location. The location is perfect to explore the area, a short walk from the picturesque Loch Alvie as well as Aviemore. So much to explore in the area that we will definitely be back. Would highly recommend.

Our stay was lovely. The roost was immaculate and the bed was so comfy. The surroundings were beautiful, Loch Alvie is definitely worth a visit. Can’t wait to come back.

Highly recommend. Lovely wee getaway location, beautiful scenery and perfect night sky view from the hot tub. Comfy cosy bed and view from the window of the cabin was ideal for some snuggles and a good book. (Sensor lights on right side of door would be ideal if they had an “off” switch for while in the hot tub at night only point of improvement)

Me and my boyfriend stayed for 3 nights at The Roost for our anniversary.
We live in the Lake District, so the journey up was a gorgeous drive.
The cabin was absolutely lovely, so cosy and the bed was extremely comfortable!
We went on a walk to the Green Loch and would definitely recommend going down there.
The only minor thing we could say about the cabin is that it needed some maintenance - the lamp shade above the bed nearly fell on my head when we moved it for the first time, the seat was unstable and we were unable to get the outside lights working along the path. My boyfriend had his tools with him so he tightened them up.
I also think that it would be lovely to get a little complementary bottle of fizz when you arrive, as I can see that quite a lot of guests come away for special moments.
Asides from that, we had a great time, the hot tub was amazing and were lucky enough to get snow on our last full day. We thank you very much for our stay!

We have been travelling round the hebredis and Scotland and booked to stay at the Roost as part of our vacation. It is set in an idyllic location with a huge window for viewing the mountains and is within a short walk to the beautiful town of Aviemore. The hot tub was fantastic after our walk up a mountain and round the lochs. The hosts have started a wildflower/insect garden, which once it's in full bloom will be beautiful. Colleen and Annabel, the hosts are most attentive and accommodating and are super proud of their beautiful lodge. We loved our stay and would return in the future 🥰

We had a gorgeous little break at the roost - snowy walks, coffees by the fire and relaxing in the hot tub. Would highly recommend as a cosy place to stay and make use of all that the cairngorms have to offer!

A tastefully decorated modern design house with everything you could need for a restful family break. The location is ideal for access to many local activities while being in a wonderfully peaceful position with complete privacy and stunning countryside views. The hot tub provides an extra layer of luxury. Annabel and Colleen contacted us after arrival to ensure everything was ok. They have created an idyllic holiday home that we would return to in a heartbeat.
