If Carlsberg did ski holidays.
We've been on a good number of ski holidays and We have never had a holiday before where it has been impossible to pick a fault.
We stayed in Chalet Kanjirobi in La Daille, Val d'Isere, which is a beautiful and very old building, would definitely stay in la Daille again. Best return runs, nearby lift n slopes, quiet and a great bus service should you want to pop into town.
The things important to us:
Convenience 10
only about 150 m from the la Daille gondola and slopes, and 80m from the superb, free bus service.
Bedroom 10
The room was huge, the bed so comfortable, the bedding crisp, lots of cupboard space and a Converter multi socket extension cable provided.
Bathroom 10
Bath, walk in shower, stunning
Boot room 10
Brilliant boot heaters, excellent storage, benches for those that require.
Communal Space 10
So well fitted out, comfy seating for all, Sonos sound system etc etc
Ambiance 10
The food/chalet host Zak, what a lad. Dinner - 3 super courses and canapes 5 nights a week, decent unlimited wine.
Breakfast - whatever you wanted, with a cooked option 5 mornings a week, quick breakfast transfer day, but Zak did us all a breakfast baguette if our choice to eat at the airport.
Afternoon Tea - delicious cake and bread/jam daily.
Staff also in hand to book restaurants etc and sort out any requirements.
Le Ski only offer catered evening meals 5 nights a week, but for me that is great. You get to go out twice a week and sample the many good local eateries and be sociable.
I think the 2 days a week off for staff is a terrific way to things as it helps le Ski attract the very best staff. They all seem to give their best, possibly because they are so valued. Lovely, lovely people.
Flights are with the excellent Jet 2, with decent times, 08.30 departure and 13.30 return.
We don't want anyone to carry our skis back from the hire shop, don't need a turn down service, or anything over the top. We just want nice accomodation, good food, handy position and nice people. If you want that too, with value for money, then Le Ski are for you.
We'll be back next year.
