Does what it says on the tin. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Large kitchen and dining area with plenty of fridges and cookers. There is a laundry room that tou can use by buying tokens at reception. The staff were great and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again.

There's no way we could be considered "youth" (excepting my purile sense of humour), but even so we were made very welcome. It's also comforting that the smell of youth hostels hasn't changed over the last few decades (though Axe is a new addition). The rooms were excellent and clean and I can't fault the showers.

Good location and good rooms. I especially liked the dining area and Longue. The kitchen was huge as well. The only thing I found odd is that the toilets were old but perfectly functional.

A great value hostel. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff and good facilities! Slightly out of town but with parking :). Dog friendly too!

I'm guessing the hostel is the old hospital. It is not the quietest place to stay due to age of the building. It was clean & tidy. Wifi is only available in the kitchen/common area. The staff were great & helpful but, I wouldn't stay here again. A+++

Toilets and washrooms are gender neutral. We were given a room on a wing with about 14 twin rooms. 3 gender neutral wash basins, 3 gender neutral toilet cubicles, 2 female only showers and 1 gender neutral shower.
Other showers etc are available on a different wing of the hostel.
I didn't find this acceptable and left.

We had a very nice and helpful reception at the hostel. The room was nice, the kitchen well equipped and a cozy lounge. Our bicycles could be stored inside.
The best part was that we could use the facilities after our checkout while waiting for our ferry to leave in the evening.

The hostel is within the Kirkwall town centre, and the facilities were good. The staff were quite friendly and helpful as this was my first ever journey to the Orkney isles and mainland.
