We hired the self drive cygnet canal boat for a family day out and 3 May birthdays in our family....let's say we had a BLAST! Steve was brilliant, helped us understand how to pass through the lock before we set off. Very easy and a peaceful trip along the canal with some great views. Fantastic day, would recommend to anyone wanting to try something new and spend some time outdoors!🌞☘️🥂⚓️

We hired the self drive canal boat for the day, and had a wonderful time! The instructor was so lovely and helpful, and you really do have a whole day of cruising around. Instructions on the locks and driving were clear and delivered swiftly, and 7 of us comfortably fit on the boat. A very unique, fun day! Thank you!

We had a lovely day out self-drive hire on the 30' narrowboat Cygnet. Steve helped us load the boat with drinking water and salad for the day and showed us the controls and going down and then back up up Kintbury Lock and then set us free on our own towards Hungerford. We were extremely lucky with the weather and had a lovely cruise with surprisingly little other traffic and almost no hold-ups in the locks. The boat performed perfectly with no issues and we sat downstairs (6 of us) around the table to eat our salad tied to the canal bank. The generous quantities of water we brought with us kept us in excellent spirits and we had a lovely peaceful cruise back down to Kintbury. Perhaps a little to our surprise given we were clearly in a day-hire boat we found all the other boaters super friendly and the anglers were very pleasant, too, which isn't always the case! Highly recommended. I think officially Cygnet is for up to 8 persons but I'd personally say that 5/6 is the maximum comfortable number on board.

I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. We did the Sunday lunchtime trip in August 2024 and it was a blissful, chilled time watching the canal gently go by. The whole team were lovely and friendly from start to finish and my family had a great time. If you love horses and boats (who doesn't?) then you want to book this unique experience!

We hired the Cygnet and had a most wonderful day out. Steve explained everything clearly at the outset and we felt comfortable driving and navigating the locks up to Hungerford. Fab experience, can only recommend. Thanks!

Great family day out. Nice and relaxed. The horse on the day was called “drummer” and was super friendly. He enjoyed stopping to munch on the fresh leaves along the tow path as he effortlessly pulled us along the canal.
