Understanding the Purpose and Scope

\n\n

The primary function of the Jigsaw Visitors' Centre is to act as an information and advice point primarily focused on disability services and inclusion. It is not merely a building but a dedicated space where individuals, families, and professionals can access up-to-date information regarding local, regional, and national resources. This includes details on benefits, accessible housing, healthcare provisions for people with disabilities, educational support, employment opportunities tailored for individuals with disabilities, and various social inclusion programs. Furthermore, the centre often serves as a meeting place or a point of referral to other specialized services offered by the Jigsaw Charity or partner organizations. It might host occasional drop-in sessions, workshops, or events aimed at raising awareness, promoting skills development, or facilitating peer support networks. While its core specialty is being identified as \"Visitor centre,\" its impact extends far beyond visitor reception; it is an active agent in community support and information dissemination. The facility is therefore recommended for anyone seeking reliable, impartial, and comprehensive guidance on navigating the landscape of disability support services specifically within the Leeds area, ensuring they are directed towards the most relevant and effective resources available.

Great organisation really helpful and understanding staff- unlike the prison who feel like they can intimidate and bully visitors whenever theyre having an off day( the ones at reception) jigh turnover of prison staff who dont have a clue what theyre doing. On the verge of assaulting me while doing a search by ripping my hair instead of asking me to move my hair to the side. And also telling to move hair away from ears when it was already tucked behind? Refusing to allow a minor onto a visit because THEIR online system has no option to add the name and THEIR system kept refusing my visits. Made a minor wait in car park untill second visit after travelling from a different city?! Prison staff at HMP on the security desk need to be checked- if thats what theyre doing to law abiding citizens what are they doing to the prisoners inside. Have heard they threaten prisoners by saying they can switch their cameras off and therell be no evidence of what theyre doing! Unpleasant for adults, kids and babies being shoved into a 2-3ft room with doors in the boiling hot like cattle!

Definatly unpleasnt for everybody. Some of the prison staff are wonderful and are mindful. Other have no problem tauting prisoners and making their mental health worse- if nobody asked dont comment eg on prisoners personal private life- you dont know what a persons life story is and how theyve ended up where they are. These little rude comments could just be the tipping point for somebody in a place that already has a record for high suicide rates. Seems the weekend staff are the ones with an attitude...

So thank you to the jigsaw centre staff for making our visits more pleasant and treating us like normal people!
