Although I didn’t have much luck with the puffin spotting as they had all left to go out to sea when I visited mid April but I was luckier than most to spot one on the closed part of the island. Even so what a wonderful experience. We had about 2 1/2 hours to explore the island and really could have spent twice that time given the frequent stops for the views and photographing the wildlife and landscapes.

I saw many birds such as puffins seagulls eider ducks. The boat trip was very nice and we saw all the breeding pairs. They flew around us and I gazed at it for hours and it is so nice. Not only are there birds but also the horns and solar panels and lakes. We could also see the eggs and we learnt about the history of the island. I would also suggest to bring some binoculars to see more details.

Great place to visit, the trip to the island is not for those with motion sickness. But when you arrive there is a ton of fun spots and animals to see

A nice day trip to visit this island and see some puffins. Sadly most left but some still stayed behind. The boat ride took about an hour and the captain would give a bit of commentary along the way. Island itself was stunning (even without a lot of puffins). Was lucky to be blessed with sunny and warm weather to really appreciate the islands offering

We took the Isle of May ferry from Anstruther on a beautifully sunny day. The staff were really helpful and the boat was remarkably quiet and comfortable.

Took about 45 mins to get to the island and then we slowed down to enjoy the view as we came around to the docking area.

Nice facilities including toilets at the dock and then off to wander the island. I thought that 2.5 hours might be too long as the island is small but I was wrong, it was just right.

Saw so many birds and it’s such a beautiful island. It was just amazing.

We very slowly sailed around the rest of the island on the way back where we got to see the cliffs then heading back in the evening sunshine.

Great way to spend the day

Btw, get there early and get brunch at Bread & Butter Cafe - the club sandwich is to die for!

Had a fantastic day out to the Isle of May, the boat trip was great but the island and the view's were amazing, thanks to all the crew who made the day fun, oh and the weather was also great , so big thumbs up 👍 😀

Amazing place!! Would definitely recommend a visit to see the beautiful wildlife that Scotland has to offer. We took a little boat over to the Isle of May and it was full of puffins, shags, razorbills and loads of other species of birds.
