Absolutely fantastic!
This needs to be done if you love adventure and a thrill.
You get to the establishment and book in. There is ample car parking front and rear of the place.
If you haven't already booked your parking with the adventure you're on, the parking will cost you, £5.
Once all booked in and car park ticket in the car, to the meet up place by the main entrance.
There, you will get your helmet and harnesses on and get instructions from your guide.
Then, once all informationed up, you get on a bus and make your way up the hill to the start of the adventure, and it is a lovely view, I must say..
There you will get off and your adventure starts..
Through an old mine way, dark in places and rough ground so walk steady.
There, you will get to the point of your tour, there you will be advised on what to do regarding being safe and hooked to the cable at all times!
Safety is paramount doing this. It isn't for people who are afraid of heights, but great if you want to overcome your fears of heights, etc..
There, the fun will begin, with vertical, decents, and inclines, all with a great view again.
I had so much fun, and the guide we had was a great person and did a superb job!
Highly recommend this event to anyone, so much to do and see.

We had the most amazing experience here! My partner and I went mid-February and booked for the infinity bridge, followed by climb the mine. The drive up to the slate mine was challenging for my little car, but we made it! Parking was easy as was booking in. We first did the infinity bridge, which was breathtaking! We were the only two there, so we really got to take our time, enjoy the views, plus we had the most amazing guide who talked us through it all! Then climb the mine was equally amazing. There were different paths if you were more cautious, like I was or harder paths if you're more adventurous, like my other half. The guides were so helpful, and the whole experience was just brilliant - an absolute gem in the lakes I would highly recommend!

Absolutely great experience doing the adrenalin pass as a group of 7 - we all loved it.
The infinity bridge and the jump are a great rush and highly recommended.

Andy and Heather (I think) were great instructors who were super professional but fun and kept us safe the entire time.

We did the mine tour and it was excellent. Really interesting the guide was fab and funny. I can recommend it. Worth making sure you wrap up when you do as it is quite cold down the mine. Loads of things in the shop, produced at the mine or locally so we were able to support local businesses.

We opted for the "climb a mine"and it was worth every penny. We had great time. There were climbs, rope ladders, metal ladders, zip lines. Very well thought out. Safety was a priority and you finish on top of the pass with fantastic views down the valley.Instructor Felix were so great and friendly as well as making sure we were safe.
The location has plenty of parking, a shop and a cafe.
Would definitely recommend this amazing place 👌

I recently underwent the via ferrata xtreme experience to climb at Honister Slate Mine, and it was an unforgettable experience

The views of the Lake District were stunning, and Rob’s guidance helped us push through the challenges while staying safe. His patient, encouraging approach created a great team atmosphere. The sense of accomplishment at the summit made it all worthwhile.

If you're looking for an unforgettable climbing experience in the Lake District, Rob at Honister Slate Mine is the perfect guide. Highly recommended!

It was truly the most interesting slate mine tour I have ever been on. If you've seen the BBC 4 documentary featuring Honister, worth visiting that alone and paying homage to the people that now run the mine and it's associated activities. Tour guide was funny witty and knew exactly how to play to the audience deep inside Fleetwith Pike. Thanks for a great day out.

**A Memorable Via Ferrata & Slate Mine Adventure**

I highly recommend the **Via Ferrata Extreme** at Honister for a mix of challenge and history. Despite not booking ahead, the team efficiently arranged my session, and by 10:30 a.m., I was geared up with Heather as my guide. Her expertise was invaluable—especially for someone like me, who loves adventure but occasionally battles a fear of heights.

The route delivered just the right level of thrill. The overhangs pushed my limits, and the **Sky Line** offered a fun, wobbly test at its center. Heather’s clear instructions kept me steady, letting me focus on enjoying myself and the stunning views of the fells and valleys.
The interwoven history lessons about the geology and heritage of the slate mines added fascinating depth to the journey, and Heather’s explanations were both informative and captivating.

The highlight? All of it.
Reaching the summit, followed by a surprise jet soaring through Honister Pass—an unforgettable exclamation point to the morning. The overhangs, the skyline the Burma bridge. The exposure and the drop offs.

I also got the photos and the T shirt
(The shirt climbed Sca Fell and Scafell Pike with me the following day)

Thanks to Heather and Honister for a well-organized, exhilarating experience. Whether you’re a novice or seasoned climber, this adventure is worth the leap.

**A solid 5/5** – just bring your sense of adventure
