Had a lovely week in The Old Hemmel cottage. Quiet location, nice host and housekeeper, plus the 2 resident Labradors, the cottage is well equipped and had a nice outdoor seating area, barbecue too. Lanercost Priory and cafe is walkable, local amenities a few miles drive, have no hesitation in recommending the property.

A beautiful place to stay, immersed in countryside. I've stayed in both a hut and the holiday cottage - both come well equipped and are extremely comfortable. Dog friendly. Not far from the small, vibrant market town of Brampton should you need groceries (great butcher opposite a great fruit and veg shop), plus cafes and lovely little shops. Didn't try a pub but seem to remember there are a few to chose from.

This was a great place to stay for our family of 4, including 2 dogs. The hosts were very welcoming. They well informed about about local places to visit, shops, walks and we loved the location. The cottage is cosy and comfortable. It’s spacious and well equipped with everything we needed for a weeks stay. I’d recommend it and happily come back another time. Thanks very much.

We stayed in the Shepherds Hut as part of the Hadrians Wall Walk. The Accomodation was fantastic. The Shepherds Hut had everything that we needed. We had a very warm welcome from Fiona and family who provided us with a wonderful home cooked meal and all the ingredients to cook breakfast in the morning. A high point of our trip

Very welcoming! We phoned late afternoon, on the off chance of a room after a day's walking and were soon enjoying a hot shower. Although we were a last minute booking we were served a wonderful vegetarian lasagne and a delicious lemon cheesecake before collapsing into the enormous comfortable bed. Wonderful hosts, great value- thank-you!

Very friendly and welcoming and absolutely beautiful location. The shepherds hut we stayed in was well equipped and comfortable and kept us warm even given the wintry weather. Only there for a night but would love to visit again for longer and enjoy some walks in the surrounding countryside.
