London to Venice via Orient Express: Victor was brilliant. Yes it's considered expensive and costs an absolute fortune especially when you think the train journey is one way, but put it this way: it's an experience that is unforgettable.

4 Days in Venice on the Orient Express from London, in July.

It was a wonderful experience for the two of us. First time on the Orient Express and to Venice.

It is a one off, as not the cheapest holiday we have ever been on and probably not the wisest thing to do, going to Venice in July, as far too hot.

Having said that, the Orient Express was a special experience. The views were spectacular and although the cabin was small, the beds were very comfortable, despite both us being quite tall. Probably ate and drank more than than we should have done but difficult to say no when you are being pampered.

We really did enjoy Venice and will visit the city again but not in July.
We were lucky to be located in the heart of the city, near St Mark's Square in the metropole hotel. We managed to find one or two restaurants which made the culinary experience a delight.
We managed to catch a concert in St Mark's square which made our first evening in Venice very special.

We ventured out onto the back streets on the second night and found some very reasonably priced shops and authentic Italian restaurants.

The lady (I think it was Carolina) that met us when we arrived and told us about the City and things we should do and see, was very good. Very friendly and knowledgeable. It certainly helped us to feel at ease.

So overall, really pleased with our 5 day break but as I said - a one off.
