Excellent stay at this modern hotel. Great welcome at a time they were very busy. Room spotless, comfortable bed and good bathroom, although I do prefer a walk in shower. I eat in the restaurant which was top notch and far exceed the typical hotel restaurant, or in the case of P Inns, cafe. I had fish, chips and mushy peas, perfection. This was assisted by a New Zealand Sauvignon Blank. As it is the law in the North East it was followed by a lovely Crème Brûlée. Check out was easy. Thank you everyone for a great stay.

Very convenient location for the city centre and (if your into football) right next to Sunderland FC stadium. Parking is available for a small fee. I stayed for 2 nights and the room was very clean and the staff very helpful. I had one meal on the first night and the food was good.

Excellent stay. Hotel was comfortable and clean. We had a great breakfast. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable particularly Niamh on reception who gave great customer service. She was excellent, friendly and gave us lots of tips on where to visit. Fantastic location for the stadium of light. We have already booked a return visit . Thanks Niamh

Had a one night awesome stay to visit theatre. Hotel clean and modern. All staff were awesome,super friendly and helpful. Big shoutout to Graham and William who were working when we returned from our night out and happily took our order for cocktails despite the late hour. Will definitely be our hotel of choice when we return to Sunderland

Rooms were lovely, most of the staff were really friendly and helpful.
Breakfast was really good, only downside was that there was only one (very slow) coffee machine so there was always a big queue for coffee. Probably should have 2 machines.
Location was excellent, especially for the rugby that night.

Excellent Modern hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived late due to car issues and on hearing this (and my wife asking for a bath) we were very kindly upgraded. I had a happy wife. Thanks to Naeve? (Assistant front staff manager) who just knew the right option to save the day! |Will happily stay here again!

Stayed overnight on Monday 11th August-Tuesday 12th August with a Youth Academy Team.||From the moment we arrived (Chris on Reception) until we left, the staff of Hilton Garden Inn not only made us feel welcome, but were hugely patient considering we had a group of 30 eleven to thirteen year old.||The bedrooms and facilities were excellent - modern and well furnished. They have a small shop on site for drinks, crisps, chocolate etc - very convenient.||I dealt with Niamh and Carol in the Restaurant....honestly they couldn't do enough for you. In fact all staff were friendly, interested and informative.||If you were heading to watch the mighty Sunderland in the Premier League this is the place to go...literally a 50 yard walk across the road to the stadium, convenient to town/shops, local swimming pool....||Really can't sing it's praises high enough.

Amazing! We were given a big clean room that smells great. Really pretty main hall and reception area too!The reception was super friendly too! She asked if we’ll be having breakfast with them next day, unfortunately we couldn’t as we had to leave before breakfast starts, so she offered to pack us some breakfast and have them ready at reception when we leave. The breakfast box they gave us were generous and delicious!
