We had a lovely walk round the reserve with plenty of hides to watch birds, though we didn't see many. I'm sure there would be plenty in the autumn or spring. The staff in the visitor centre were very friendly and helpful. However for refreshments there were only cold drinks, crisps and chocolate bars.

The reserve is "no dogs" but we found a nice footpath walk next to the entrance which was great for our dog to enjoy a walk.

We went on a particularly cold and windy day, late August. So no swallowtails. But we both struggle with walking great distances, my partner more so. But very friendly staff pointed us towards a very knowledgeable gentleman who pointed out all the places we could stop and rest. I saw cranes, storks, a marsh harrier and many more. I'd love to come again on a calm and sunny day 😊

A very pleasant place to walk around to see the wildlife around you. We were very pleased to see Swallowtail butterflies. The visitor centre has a few books and items for sale and there are toilets and a vending machine for drinks. Volunteers in the centre were very friendly and helpful and gave us a map of the reserve. There are a few hides around the reserve.

A beautiful and peaceful reserve with boat trips across Hickling Broad to hides tucked away in the reeds. Our boatman was hugely knowledgeable about the wildlife on the broad and how the reeds have been used.

Wonderful visit mid/end July. Fresh sandwiches (with veggie options) and cup of tea just what needed after wet walk! Saw so much wildlife, things we hadn't discovered before including Northern pool frog and konik horses, as well as plethora of birds and honoured to see the swollowtail butterfly and larvae. Excellent boat trip with Jim, who took us up 60ft viewing tower and knowledgeable friendly staff who even recommended Horsey Gap to us for seal watching. Looking forward to returning to this magical place.

The reserve is amazing and the staff are so supportive. My guide went out of his way to find the specific birds that I wanted to see. The boat trip was also amazing. My only criticism is that I found a sick water vole in the track and reported it to a member of staff. As these animals are endangered I thought the member of staff would have been more concerned but she was rather uninterested so a great disappointment.

Such a beautiful place. We came to birdwatch, didn't see an awful lot of birds but we came slap bang in the middle of the day, it didn't matter though because the walks are lovely and the weather was great. Good amount of hides, particularly liked the observation hut, nice & cosy and great viewing point. Could easily spend all day here.
The one and only criticism is that the coffees from the machine in the visitor centre tasted like dishwater 🤣 everything else was lovely, good selection of gifts/souvenirs too and the staff were helpful & friendly.
