You can get free map here and get some nice souvenirs. I usually buy post cards, shame they did not have stamps. The post office is just few doors down the street, however it was as busy as it can be on Saturday lunch time.

My husband visited the tourist information centre, looking for things to do while I was working. He spoke with a lady, who he said was friendly and helpful, she gave him a map showing local landmarks. While he was in there, he bought some souvenirs, a few Hertford magnets and a decorative stone that was created by a local artist.

The idea is a good one,BUT Hertford is a shambles. Councillors with their names on BUSES, which I doubt they'd deign to use, overseeing the complete demolition,destruction, of the town centre. The 2nd century Roman corn dryer hidden, flower beds in st Andrews street suffering from a napalm attack, empty shops, no public toilets(except next to a pub). Evron place virtually derelict, and they receive remuneration, WHY.?

Very helpful volunteers making good relevant suggestions. Good range of literature and open useful hours, ie early for things to do same day and late afternoon if we had needed accommodation.
