We had an amazing stay in 'The Hen House' for our children's birthday weekend. On arrival everything was exactly as the photos and descriptions had said. Immaculately clean and tidy. There were essentials like bread, butter, milk (and cakes) provided. The pod itself is sooo well equipped everything you would need from toiletries, to kitchen equipment (excellent coffee machine) and even wood and kindling for the fire outside. Honestly can't wish for anything more! The surroundings of the farm are just beautiful we even got a little visit from a sheep and her two babies! The location is fantastic, a short drive from lots of places, we fitted in so much in our weekend due to the location of the pod. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were very sad when it was time to leave! We would definitely return and recommend to anyone!

Great communication and information. I even got a call on the way warning of a flood!!
We loved the location and how isolated it was and the scenery.
The Lodge was a great size and well equipped meaning we left having washed and dried our clothes!!
Lovely landlord who were happy to talk to.us and answer our many questions.
I'd deffo would love to stay here again.

Fab property - stunning views and excellent location. The house felt lovely and secluded but still close to local amenities. It was incredibly clean, cozy and welcoming so we felt at home from the minute we arrived. Thankyou for the thoughtful touches such as the wood for the fire. The house was beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay

Lovely glamping pod (Laal Ewe). Cozy and spacious. Surrounded by astonishing nature with plenty of hiking spots nearby. Would definitely recommend for a short break in the Lake District.

The booking process was easy and there was good communication via email regarding our booking, particularly closer to the time of our stay, with clear details about the property, what they provide, directions etc.
Unfortunately our original booking was cancelled suddenly by the owner of the property. I received a telephone call from Maria at Herdwick Cottages to inform me about this. Maria was helpful and friendly and was able to offer us a replacement cottage with similar amenities. This cottage actually cost more to stay in than our original booking but Maria had spoken to the owner, explained our situation and they agreed to offer the cottage for the same price as the original booking.
I have not booked through Herdwick Cottages before, I was very happy with the service and customer care we received regarding our booking with Herdwick Cottages. I would definitely recommend this company to family and friends.

Very informative and very professional. Your service was the best I have received from any cottage company and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you. I was called prior to stay to ensure I understood access details and contacted again to advise of early checkin and late checkout. Then contacted a further time to ore warn me of slippery access due to bad weather. Honestly can’t wait to book through you again. Definite personal touches.
