After some research, I found this company which promises that the tour will take place, regardless of the number of participants. This was one factor important for me since, at the time, I was traveling solo. I took 3 excursions with Hugh, the owner, and really enjoyed each of them.

Hugh introduced me to the three parts of the island (Lewis, Harris and Uig Bay), each more interesting than the last, with their most important attractions, but also with lesser known but equally extraordinary places. At a loss for words on several occasions, each section of the road generated exclamations from me and from Hugh, even though he has seen it all multiple times!

A mix of history and natural beauty, this island is simply magnificent. From the Bronze Age through the era of the Vikings and the Celts, "black house", "round house", stone circles, surreal landscapes and breathtaking beaches... To top it all, Hugh’s courtesy, kindness and good sens of humour; three perfect days.

I really did enjoy every minute of it and warmly recommend booking with Hugh and his team.

We booked the Isle of Lewis historical tour and ended up having the tour all to ourselves with Hugh’s associate, Gordon. It was the best day and we had zero regrets about booking the tour. Hugh gave us clear directions about where to meet them and we were able to pay for the tour day of via card or cash. Gordon was very kind and taught us so much about the Isle and was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited. He also answered our random questions about life on the Isle, their currency system, and suggested places to eat in town. We did not feel rushed at any of the sites we visited, as we were able to walk around and enjoy them. I desperately wanted to visit a beach and Gordon was happy to make that happen even though it wasn’t really part of the tour. The tour spots highlighted the history of the Isle and this tour more than worth the fee. We will be fondly thinking back on this tour for a long time. I highly recommend you book with Hebridean Isle Tours!

I knew I would love the isle of Lewis and this tour with Hebridean Isle Tours confirmed it. Such a beautiful place, rich in history, story. It is as the amazing guide Hugh said, "what was left is left", it still remains as though history is still unfolding. Take this tour with a small group, away from the crowds, with experienced guides and managed by the owners, so that your enjoyment is still their primary concern. Hugh hit it out of the park!
