Visited 03/05/2025, and seated in the attached outdoor covered seating area to the tea rooms not pre booked but luckily tables available when we arrived. Very helpful and courteous welcoming staff who even gave granddaughter a small chocolate egg and including the manager who made granddaughter feel very welcome and because ate all her dinner gave a sweet treat for after, fantastic service.

I wasn’t able to take advantage of the afternoon tea they do as have to order 24hrs before, would highly recommend you do this as part of your visit to the Healey Dell area.

The food came quickly and as you can tell from the pics posted were well presented, plentiful, tasty and great value, with the warm weather on the day the drinks that came with ice were lovely as was the hot drinks ordered too.

Lovely atmosphere with everyone enjoying the food and service as well as location, highly accessible outdoor eating location and we saw a couple with an assistance dog with a water bowl whilst there which is great to see.

Highly recommended

This is a quaint little place to come and have an afternoon tea, or a bite to eat after you have been for a stroll along the trails.

I had the traditional afternoon tea and, whilst I think the food was good, I don't think it was necessarily good value for money. For one, there should be more sandwiches offered, especially if you are having it for two people.

The service was very good, however, with staff being very attentive, friendly, and welcoming. That being said, there was an overwhelming scent of burnt fat pervading the air, which did not help one's olfactories, along with a rather dubious soundtrack of various jazz tunes, and other miscellany of music, being pumped into the air, which was an assault on the ears.

The place has a lot going for it and I would go again, perhaps only to see what else is on the menu, but not for another afternoon tea.

My boyfriend and I decided to explore Healey Dell Nature Reserve for the first time – such a lovely spot! The tracks were clean and wide, and we came across some cute benches along the way to sit and take it all in. At one point, we found a flat open area with a few benches where a family was having a picnic and kids were playing with dogs – it was a really sweet scene. The weather was just right too – not too hot, not too cold, and a good amount of sun.

About halfway through our walk, we stopped at the Healey Dell Heritage Centre & Tea Rooms. It’s such a charming little place. It was really busy (which is always a good sign!), and we were happy to wait for a table – love supporting places like this. We only stopped for a quick coffee break – I had a cappuccino and a slice of chocolate fudge cake, and my boyfriend had a black coffee. I wasn’t a fan of my cappuccino, and sadly the cake was really dry – tasted more like a supermarket one than something homemade. My boyfriend said his coffee was okay though.

That said, the food on other tables looked great – proper chunky chips and big burgers. The building itself is beautiful inside, and it’s the perfect mid-walk stop for a drink and a break. They even had jugs of water with cucumber, which was a lovely touch.

There was one slightly odd thing – an older man seemed to be hovering around the staff while they worked. We overheard some of his conversation and it came off a bit patronising – hopefully he was just trying to help, but the younger staff seemed like they were doing a great job on their own. Give them a chance!

We also found a little art shop inside and were lucky to catch an artist named Mary working on a painting. She didn’t want to be photographed, but I did snap a picture of one of her artworks – really impressive stuff. You can buy her art on cute little keyrings and postcards for just £1!

Overall, it’s a lovely, unique spot – very clean, with friendly vibes. Definitely worth a visit if you’re walking the reserve.

This place is cool!

My wife and I had an afternoon tea here on Valentine's Day (this was in-part thanks to Wowcher, for the record).

One minute, you are driving through the hustle and bustle of Rochdale; and the next you're suddenly going down a country road into the middle of nowhere and you find yourself here. As the name of the place suggests, it is steeped in history. It's not far away from an old railway viaduct as well as an old air raid shelter. So, on first impressions, the immediate area doesn't look that special, but it's absolutely worth your time to have a wander.

We dined in the downstairs tea room. There is more room upstairs. The room had a lovely decor surrounded by antique plates and with large chandeliers. Great music from the 40s and 50s played in the background which I especially enjoyed. It just made for a really lovely atmosphere. Also, dogs are welcome!

The staff were really nice and attentive which always goes a long way. They were very friendly and polite. And also, crucially, the food was lovely. We ate every bite of our afternoon tea and the lovely fruit laden scones were especially nice. Also, because it was Valentine's Day, the food had even been themed with heart designs on some of the items. A nice little touch that they didn't have to do.

There is also an outdoors eating area which I imagine is especially nice on a warmer day and looks like it comes with patio heaters. I think it is from the back of here that you can access the nature trail. It contains a waterfall and the full walk lasts about an hour. We didn't do this ourselves, but I would love to revisit with the dog.

Rare to get good hot chocolate but it was great here.
Quaint little tea room, not exactly to my taste in decor but the staff were accommodating and friendly.
Local walks are fantastic too.

I came today with my 4 year old and puppy
The staff were all so kind and provided exceptional service
My drink accidentally got knocked over and it was replaced without question. They were so personable with my dog and daughter and a lovely lady gave my dog some extra dog chews.
The food was delicious, the setting by the river is stunning highly recommend for the school holiday with some lovely walks and waterfalls close by

We had our baby’s naming ceremony at Healey Dell Tea Rooms and honestly it was such a beautiful and meaningful day for us. The venue is full of charm and quirk, surrounded by peaceful, stunning scenery that made the whole experience feel truly special and full of love.

What made it even more incredible was the team. Lisa, Reagan and everyone else were so kind, professional and genuinely caring. From the very start, they supported us with amazing communication and made sure every little detail was taken care of. Nothing was too much trouble.

They let us decorate exactly how we wanted, checked in regularly before the event and even made a personalised menu just for our day - such a thoughtful, personal touch. The food was delicious, the space was spotless and everything ran so smoothly due to their attention and care.

Healey Dell tea rooms didn’t just host our celebration, they helped create a truly precious memory for us. We are so grateful for all the effort they put in for us. They made the whole event more special than we could have ever imagined.

The place is very good, good environment and good service, the food portions are fantastic, very tasty and not too expensive. BUT menus without prices (see pictures) is a missive fail.
Coffee from £4.25 or alcoholic drinks ? price is open to many misinterpretations, same with the specials and cakes. It's very uncomfortable for your clients to ask for the prices all the time, that just doesn't feel right.
The coffee prices are London prices, but the coffee mocca was huge that is good but the late size was normal. I still don't know how much I paid for the drinks, it doesn't matter, the money is not the problem here!
The point is that you deserve 5 stars but need to improve those menus. In my perspective, it's just not right and a fail in your service. Thanks!
