Went at low tide, the sea was so far out we couldn't even see it! The beach is described as shingle and sand, it's not, it's shingle and mud on top of sand, typical of Morecambe bay as it was disgusting and we got mud over our boots and the dog. There are some tiny trickles with a shingle bottom where we could let our dog have a paddle, and it was a very beautiful if slightly lonesome view. But not a sandy beach! I don't think there are any in Cumbria except for possibly St. bees, which I haven't visited yet!

Nice views, lovely sand for kids, but be careful of the mudflats, and the sea is mostly always out.

Beautiful beach for viewing the coastline and wildlife. The tide goes out a long way but comes in very quickly. Advise you stick to the shore line and paths as there is a lot of mud from the river. Fee parking nearby and a lovely café. Decent kids playground near the car park and toilets nearby too. Well worth a visit

Miles and miles of perfect golden sand. When the tide is out, there are dunes and sea either side of you, and you can walk for hours on flat firm sand which is fabulous for running dogs. There are pebbles higher up the beach in some places.

Haverigg itself isn't the most picturesque place (although some of the residents have made a real effort to make their properties look cheerful and colourful), and the beach was covered in green/blue algae. The whole area had an atmosphere of neglect, and there was an abandoned boat with graffiti on that didn't help, coupled with the fact that it was a gloomy day.
We found a small carpark with a cafe and toilets nearby (can't comment on these as we didn't use them), as well as a play park for small kids.
I'd imagine it looks a whole lot better on a sunny day and when the algae is gone, but we're not in a hurry to return.

Beautiful place with walks dotted around for all ages. Lovely little harbour with sand dune treks nearby. Everything close by if anything needed.
