The cafe does the most amazing food. It is popular and so sometimes there is a wait but the staff will tell you upfront. Food is ordered at the counter. We had pulled pork ciabatta which was tasty and filling but even better was the assortment of home made cakes. Various brownies, rocky roads, blondies, flapjacks and scones. They were so yummy we bought more to take home.

This is a great place! We hired bikes for 4 hours, which was enough time to take a leisurely ride along the trail and stop in the Anglers Rest pub for an hour.

The cafe serves great coffee, the pastry was unfortunately very stale but all the staff were friendly, including in the hire shop too.

You have to pay for parking which was £6 for all day, there’s lots of outdoor seating too.

EXCELLENT!

We were recommended the Monsol Trail at Hassop Station by a friend and locals and it did not disappoint.

The guys at the cycle hire were really helpful and our bikes did the job.

The trail is a 14 mile (7 there 7 back) trail of pure flat land with the most stunning scenery and views. Really interesting place being a disused railway track so you cycle through a few train tunnels and over Victorian viaducts.

We did the trail with three kids (14, 11 & 9) and they all loved it and double bonus - no moaning!

We stopped off at The Anglers Rest for lunch which is quite a steep five minute walk off the trail (food was ok). There’s also a disused station selling refreshments around halfway. We didn’t use the Hassop Station cafe, so o can’t comment on that, but it was bustling and there was a beautiful gift shop.

There were lots of walkers and cyclists and a packed lunch is probably wise.

We paid £104 for five bikes for the day.

Just been for morning brunch. Such a cheery place in spite of the Bank Holiday weather. The atmosphere was lovely, the staff were friendly and made us feel welcome, as did the bright surroundings and fresh sprays of daffodils on the tables.
The food was amazing. We had the full English, salmon and poached eggs on sourdough toast and a children's beans in toast. The accompanying drinks were hot which is always a plus!
The shop was more expensive than I remember from previous visits but nice to browse around.
A really positive experience. Thanks to all concerned.

Fantastic place to start your Monsal Trail adventure!

Hassop Station is the perfect starting point for a day out on the Monsal Trail — whether you’re cycling, walking, or running! There’s a paid car park (£6 for the whole day), easy bike hire, and a lovely café with delicious pizza, great drinks, and outdoor seating.

We started our route here with kids on bikes and others running, and it was just amazing — the trail offers stunning views, historic tunnels, and peaceful countryside all along the way. The Monsal Viaduct and the old railway tunnels make the whole experience really special.

Highly recommend stopping here before heading out — it’s a great place to fuel up, relax, and enjoy the beginning of one of the most scenic routes in the Peak District!

Lovely cafe on the Monsal trail, very popular with cyclists and walkers. Good choice of food, shortage of cutlery when I was there.
Massive portions, had a ploughman's which could have easily fed 2. Reasonably priced, would definitely recommend

I nip in here sometimes when walking the trail. I enjoyed my waffles for breakfast and the coffee is pretty good too. The staff are helpful and friendly. I do feel that the service setup could be tweaked to reduce having to queue up (maybe bring back QR codes) and perhaps cutlery / sauces ought to be brought out rather than customers having to retrieve them - this aspect feels a bit more like a self-service canteen than a cafe and doesn't really fit with the prices, which are standard pub / restaurant levels. The takeaway hut is handy when stopping by on a walk - it would be nice to see a Thornbridge / local beer on here in addition to the Peroni. You have AM:PM on tap inside, which is lovely, so it would be nice to have that one on the kiosk too.
