We have enjoyed some lovely day trips with Harpurs. The buses are prompt and drivers are friendly. You get your own reserved seat for the day. The buses are clean and comfortable.
Unfortunately they have decided to no longer pick up at Belper which has probably put a stop to me using them in the future.
UPDATE I still do go on Harpurs bus trips after all because I like them so much.

Sensibly priced coach hire, day excursions, clean comfortable coaches with friendly experienced drivers. Sadly the proprietor Nick Harpur has taken the hard decision to look for a buyer for the company as he now wishes to retire, hopefully the company will still provide value and service with a new owner and we wish Mr Harpur the very best for his imminent retirement.
10/01/23 ......update....the company has so far failed to find a buyer and is now scaling down its operations, coach hire is however still available and the same level of service will be offered as before until such a time when a decision will be made as to the future of the company.

Review update.... Harpurs is currently undergoing a scaling down of many of its school contracts and streamlining its coach operations, the depot now incorporates viking transport which use the depot as a base from which they operate, whether this will be the way forward for Harpurs or is only a temporary measure remains to be seen . However in the meantime bookings for private hire are still being taken.
Business update 10/8/23 ......Harpurs is currently thriving and the excursion program has really exceeded expectations this year, the private hire section is also running at full capacity despite the downsizing of the coach fleet.
Review update 10/1/24
This year could see many changes as older drivers make the decision to retire and could mean a further downsizing of the fleet, the frontline vehicles are getting tired and showing their age but unfortunately there are no immediate plans to upgrade. September will be when the decision as to the way forward will take place. Generally the company is still in a profitable position but a shortage of road staff and the availability of vehicles means that there are limits on the amount of work that can now be taken on.
Update 28/6/24
The silly season has arrived and work has gone through the roof, the current shortage of drivers means remaining staff are working flat out, two newer vehicles have been added to the fleet but sadly aren't suitable for elderly travellers as the entrance steps are quite steep and the toilet is hard to get into for elderly visitors meaning that comfort breaks are necessary.
