We stayed at this awful lodge this week and it was dreadful. We were immediately met with sewage smell in the car park that stank so bad. It was difficult to know where to park as the car park stated it was private. There was no communication from the hotel people upon arriving so we didn't feel welcomed at all. Throughout our stay there was noone at the receptionist desk, you had to ring the buzzer if you wanted to speak to anyone. This was very off putting to even converse with them.|I've read some of the reviews here and the receptionist did take my mother's phone and he did take a photo of her account to leave a positive review on booking.com. DO NOT BELIEVE ANY POSITIVE REVIEWS!!! |We entered the family room (room 11) and found neon orange stains on the carpet (believed to be slime). The mattresses were old and the springs were hurting our backs when sleeping. One mattress was even sagging where previous people had slept. The bunk bed didn't have all the screws it needed to be secured properly - so dodgy to use. On one duvet cover sheet there were blood stains so we didn't use that one. Absolutely disgusting!! |The extractor fan in the bathroom was not working so we couldn't shower. The hot water tap in the bathroom was not hot at all. |The TV signal was very poor. It kept cutting out and turning off.|There was yellow stains on the teabags. The teabags were not individually wrapped and it's a hygienic issue. There was no milk at all for the tea.

For starters we didn’t even get to stay in the hotel because they cancelled three days before we were meant to stay here.||Whoever was on reception when they cancelled our stay due to the 3 different reasons, clearly have no experience in customer service and like to scream at “guests” down the phone and then end the call on them on multiple different occasions.||Definitely wouldn’t book to stay here if you are attending anything local because it seems like all they want to do is gain more money, which they have done well from what I’ve seen by doubling the price of rooms last minute. ||This is the worst customer service I’ve ever received and I would definitely avoid after this situation.|We have had this room booked since August last year and have been let down last minute.||Thanks for causing us stress and nearly ruining our weekend we’ve had planned for a year.

DO NOT BOOK!
I had a booking at this accommodation 'Happy Guests Lodge' for 11months, I had paid in full for my 3 night stay. 3 days before they email and said my room had been cancelled. When I called to find out what happened the man I spoke to was extremely rude and tried to blame booking.com. They're re advertised my room at 3 times the amount I had paid and said if I still wanted to pay I could pay the new price! Absolutely shocking. I will be taking this further as I know under the UK customer Law this is not allowed to happy! Just wanted to warn anyone looking at staying here! Dont bother!

DO NOT BOOK OR STAY HERE.|Would score a 0 if I could.|Had this hotel booked since last August (August 2024) for this weekend coming August 22nd - 25th 2025 for a festival, paid in full in advance a price of around £230 for the 3 nights, the hotel today has cancelled my booking stating the property will is temporarily closed, yet the property is still available to book on booking.com for DOUBLE AND TRIPLE the price, screams to me they want more money for the room I’ve paid and booked well in advance for.|Cancelling the booking the same week as the bank holiday, arguably the busiest week in Manchester and Liverpool knowing that other hotels would be charging a fortune. Other hotels for this same weekend are working out between £500-£700 for the same dates.|Tried to contact the property and the person who answered was so rude, said they’d received multiple calls and nothing they can do, I was promised a phone call back which I haven’t received.|Booking.com were a bit more helpful potentially offering to pay the difference for this utter shambles out of our control and complete unfairness, all because the hotel is greedy for money.|Have stayed here before and the rooms are not worth a single penny of anyone’s cash the states they are

On arrival the place looked run down. The room was reasonable but a bit dark. The TV had 4 thin lines down it and the volume cut out twice. The bathroom had signs of mould and rust. The shaver light wasn't working and extractor fan was very weak. The refreshments in the room consisted of 4 teabags and some sugar - no coffee and I had to ask for milk. The continental breakfast consisted of a choice of three cereals, whole milk, bread for toast and margarine - plus some juice and tea/coffee. I got a cheap last minute deal but I would have regretted it if I'd paid the full amount.

Fraudsters. They ask to see your phone/ booking pin and then write a review on your behalf saying how great their establishment is. Before I'd hardly woken up I received an email from Booking. Con thanking me for my review. Suspicious? It rated the hotel (I'll call it a hostel) 10/10 and said great vacation. Firstly I wasn't on a vacation, second I do t say vacation because I'm English and third, I rarely leave reviews and of I did it'd be more than two words. The accomodation is very basic, very dark room, lights were hotel californiaesque. Spacious to their credit. Shower was dirty, breakfast was like a student house, 2 days before the student loan is due. Ultimately they're fraudsters using your personal information to bump up their ratings. Avoid and dot show them your phone.

I booked this hotel for the location, for a 2 day stay as our daughter had a booked a stunning log cabin within a couple of miles away and we could spend the days with her and my granddaughter. I had requested a disabled access twin room, which was spacious and fairly clean, although the carpet was badly stained. Whilst the disabled bathroom had several grab rails, it did contain a bathtub with shower over it. There was a grab rail on the wall for those disabled people who could still manage to climb in a bath. The edge of the bath was very rusty. The plastic, orange shower curtain was covered in mould spots on the inside. (My husband had to shower at my daughter's immaculate accommodation with walk in shower). The window blind was too narrow for the window, leaving a huge gap on either side. My husband was woken up at 6.30 am with the sun shining onto his face. You could actually see where the previous blind had been fitted which would have covered the window.. The complimentary tea and coffee box contained 4 tea bags and six packets of sugar. There was no coffee and no milk. I could have asked for these at reception but had brought my own. This was only a small point but shows the lack of care when preparing the room. The beds were quite lumpy and I could feel the springs through the sheet. The mattress was covered by the sheet only. There was no mattress protector, waterproof or otherwise. So, for the guest who complained the mattress stunk of urine, it seems obvious that someone had wet the bed and it had been left to dry. The breakfast was a bonus for me as I didn't realise it was including in the price. The lovely guy on reception when I booked in said a "Continental breakfast was included". This turned out to be corn flakes (and 2 other cereals), a loaf of white bread for toast, a tub of spread and a jar of jam, milk in the fridge, teabags and cheap Aldi coffee, plus a few mini apples. There were no croissants like the picture on the wall! On the positive, staff were friendly. the TV, kettle and hairdryer all worked perfectly. The place would be superb with a much needed refurb

Absolutely horrific. Do not stay. Dont have enough words to say how bad. Stuffed rag behind toilet to soak up leak, false food hygiene score, bath held together with black duct tape. I think the receptionist stole my booking.com pin. Maybe that's how they get false reviews. Needs to be shut down. I will be letting the council know they are showing the wrong food hygiene level on the door. Oh the door which us smashed by the way
