Lovely zoo, could be more spacially organised. In the vulture enclosure, there were dead animals, which wasn't nice to see, so maybe be more discreet about the way it's presented to the public, especially children. (I'm aware this is what they need to eat)
Lovely animals, and I enjoyed watching the cheetahs playing.

Amazing zoo. Incredible array of weird and wonderful animals. The wombats stole the show. Could not believe the size of the Tiger!
The bears decided to play in their pool which was fantastic to see. The staff were friendly and you can tell they work hard and take exceptional care of the animals.

Ever heard of Hamerton Zoo Park? (PE28 5RE)

I certainly hadn’t but when 4 year old Ollie asked to go to the Zoo yesterday, on advice from his mum we headed off down the A14 (from a starting point in Market Harborough) towards Cambridgeshire.

It was a much quicker journey than going to Twycross, and the experience 100% better!!

The range of animals, birds and reptiles was mind blowing, and the acreage covered just went on & on! Probably bigger than Twycross ……..and they were still extending!!!

The animals were well cared for, new enclosures were being built, and a new cafe & gift shop was under construction………..and all under a constant canopy of Red Kites which lazily floated around the skies above.

The selection of animals was different to the norm, and whilst there were a few monkeys, there were plenty of species you’ve probably never heard of, let alone seen before!

Ollie loved walking through the large aviary of budgies & finches, hearing a kookaburra calling to its mate, watching the vultures as they ‘gallomped’ sideways towards each other and coming across a bear (he loves Grizzly & the Lemmings) cheetahs & a white tiger.

The entrance fee was much cheaper than other Zoos, parking was great (& free) and the food freshly prepared & cooked. Just don’t forget a pushchair if you have little ones as piggy backs are otherwise essential!

It’s certainly the best zoo you’ve never heard of (and those you have!)

Hamerton who? Not sure why I haven't heard of this zoo before but well worth a visit.
Probably a good half day experience but in the better weather with cubs a bit older, more animals in the paddocks and the cafe renovations finished ,then worth a day of anyone's time.
Lots of room for little ones to run,play areas and up close with most of the animals being behind wire.
Enjoyed the wide variety of Australian animals and need to go back for several I didn't see as it was so very cold in January.
Bonus are tarmac paths to walk on.I was on a mobility scooter so a bonus for me.
Looking forward to seeing the renovations finished.
Buy your tickets before you go to save a few poundsm
Good experience with enough to tempt me to travel to go back in the summer.

Good zoo, with variety of animals that seem well cared for (although a few chewing plastic in their houses).

8yo enjoyed the exhibits and lots of *sqweeee* noises. We spent 4 hours there. The play park was great!

Few points:
The surrounding roads, and carpark are atrocious on the way in.

No maps with routes (or sign posts).

Dino train (animatronic Dino's) is £3.50 each for a 10m (max) journey.

Few bits of cover for a drizzly day. Most well thought out.

Take 20p pieces for feeding goats etc.

Loos were clean and modern.

Walked a lot, so take prams for very small infants.

Lots of picnic benches for lunches from home.

All the entry and car park has huge path holes. It’s like a swimming pool. You get a fortune for entry and membership, you should offer a decent service for your roads and parking area.

A lovely place to visit, with a mixture of birds, monkeys, goats and camels! Some gorgeous animals to coo over, all looking very happy and relaxed.
There is also a playground for kids, and a nice cafe to visit. Highly recommended 😍

a wonderful spot to spend 3-4 hours. The animals are healthy and well-cared-for, providing an engaging and educational visit. While some cages are empty, there are still plenty of fascinating exhibits to explore. The zoo's layout is family-friendly, ensuring that kids have a great time. One downside is the café, which has limited food options. the spacious car park right beside the zoo is very convenient
