We stayed here after my mum had to leave due to unforeseen circumstances so we asked reception and they kindly allowed us to complete her stay which had already been paid for. Firstly, the lodges are so cosy, great heating system, so spacious and clean with great kitchen appliances and utensils. The bed was one of the comfiest holiday beds I’ve stayed in. There was 2 good sized smart tvs and great Wi-Fi throughout. The trees were gorgeous and a nice relaxing time outside in the middle of them in our hot tub. The only single remark I could make is that the jets in the bath tub can’t have been used for a while as they spat out black residue, I ran a bath and let them run through for a while before making a fresh one and then they where clear. Although this is something that is easily missed as you do have to fill up a whole bath to be able to use them. Overall a lovely couple of nights away in a fantastic location that I would defiantly return to. I only spoke to one member of staff upon leaving but she seemed very friendly πŸ˜€

We picked this place, because the lodges were situated in woodland, you were not overlooked by anyone else (visa versa ).Plenty of room in the lodges the car park was right next to the lodge. Nice woodland area to walk around,we seen plenty of wild life including Deer and Squirrel's that came to the lodge to eat food we bought from the shop. after a while they became quite tame. There is a small shop in reception with basic goods, staff were very nice friendly and helpful. Ask them to give you details to local food places that will deliver to your lodge.. We have had dozens of holidays in this country ,this is the best place we have visited, by far. If you like a quite park were if you want you can keep your self to your self ,you wont go far wrong in this site.SUPERB It is very hand for York and lots of other places.

We have used the lodges at Griffon Forest for many years and never been disappointed. The Poachers Premier Lodge is top class and has everything at your disposal. The hot tub outside is brilliant and you're not overlooked. We spend most of our time here because it's so relaxing with the views of the forest, the squirrels visiting and other wildlife around.

What a wonderful place. The lodges are set in a beautiful forest! Very stylish and no expense spared with the furnishings. You have everything you need. The showers are fab, very comfortable seating and beds? Everything is done to a high standard. The hot tubs are great, so enjoyable and well cared for. Loads to do around the area and lovely forest walks. Close to drive to the moors and Coast. Whitby and Robins Hood Bay a must. Will highly recommend for families or couples, very dog friendly. Just the perfect break!!!!!

Our favourite place to relax and unwind. This was our 2nd time coming here and it didn't disappoint. We stayed in lodge 11 which is a hunters lodge. |Very high standard of appliances in the kitchen and extremely clean throughout.|The best part for us is the animals. Every morning we fed the birds and squirrels that came to our lodge decking. Every night we saw a badger just amazing can't wait to return.

We never tire of this beautiful place, our 8th visit & just booked to return next year. The lodges are so very well appointed will all you could possibly need. As previously mentioned, this is self catering, so remember to bring your own supplies! The lodges are very well maintained & spotless - we have never had an issue in all the years we have been coming here. Staff are very welcoming & friendly. Beds are so comfy, we slept really well. Hot tub is just the best, late night sit outs with all the lights off watching the stars also morning soaks with a big mug of coffee watching the wildlife visit the decking!|Did a couple of walks, which were well signposted, nice & flat but very muddy & massive puddles causing us to veer off the track for drier ground, few slips & trips & giggles!|We ate at Tykes a couple of times, fantastic Sunday roast & then steak night on Wednesday - both very tasty meals. We also visited Castle Howard which looked spectacular with all the decorations up.|We come here to totally chill & kick back, much needed 7 days away before returning to the madness of everyday life.

This was a fabulous place for a family gathering. The lodges we were allocated were close together but we also had a lot of privacy and space. The facilities were of a very high specification. Cooking and showers etc. The woodland walks were also great for all the conversations and catching up that we did.
The staff were very kind and helpful in the booking process and the whole weekend was excellent value for money especially as many of the party had either come from abroad or long distances. We have all said that we hope to be back .

Okay so this is going to be a fairly long review. ||Firstly it is without a doubt a lovely place to stay, it is very relaxing and is situated in a stunning setting.||When we arrived at 4.00(ish) to check in- this is in my opinion is to late to check in as this is essentially the whole day gone so your paying to only a few hours in the cabin.||When we walked in we both said how lovely it was and on the table was a tote bag with some doggy treats and a blanket was absolutely lovely! (And made our lil furball very very happy!) ||The rules are very strict in regards to dogs- no dogs on the sofa and no dogs in the bedroom. For a 'dog friendly cabin' this seems very odd. I understand about the scratching of the sofa and potentially damages so what would be better is saying| 'dogs are welcome on the sofa and the bedrooms however please bring a blanket for them to sit on' .|This would be way better as dogs are part of the family and you wouldn't exactly tell your mum, dad or gran to stay in the living room alone. |(Plus our little dog has separation anxiety as we adopted her so every time we did that she was crying and howling as she thought she had been abandoned).||Although I do have to say the welcome instructions in regards to dogs were VERY well written and made us both laugh a lot. Who ever wrote it is an absolute comic genius 🀣||We loved the hot tub and adored seeing all the birds and squirrels and just quite frankly letting our stress melt away in the bubbles and sounds of the birds. ||They have facilities to use In the cabin including a washing machine, tumble dryer and ironing board which was very useful.||The beds were like sleeping in fluffy clouds that embrace you into a delightful hug of comfyness! However the pillows were very firm so if your not keen on firm pillows bring your own. (We had to go back home and get some). |So for sleep I would give it a 9 out of 10 ||The cabin itself was generally clean and tidy however the floor seemed like it hadn't been washed since the cabin got put in. I say this because we knocked over the dog water so cleaned up with a towel and the amount of dirt that came off the floor was mildly gross. So a good Steam and clean of the floor is definitely needed. |We also found a huge clump of fluff underneath the table by the door and when we went to use the tumble dryer my mum found a pair of underwear belonging to someone else underneath the filter which was also gross 🀒😷 so this should be have been checked. |Most of the doors in the cabin also had filler spots all over it for the price we're paying you would expect these to be finished off completely rather than half done as it just looked untidy messy and quite frankly like they had some sort of disease 🀣.|There was also quite a bit of dust left in the cabin and on curtain poles. There was also a load of sellotape marks on the window by the door.|So overall cleanliness I would give about 7/10||In the kitchen they have a load of appliances and tools you can use they have all the plates bowls, Cutlery, mixing bowls, blenders, kettle. I could go on they basically basically have the full range, although I will say it would be even more amazing if they could also have a panni maker 🀣||Where our cabin was situated was gorgeous however we did have constant issues with our front door making this feel fairly unsafe as our door would not shut and would not stay shut without locking it. Wich to me is just dangerous. They tried fixing it but it didn't work and we were down in reception practically every day saying it's still not working, but they did not do much else to help like offering a bit of a discount or offering to move as cabins that would have gone a long way. |Safety - 6/10 (Purley down to the issues with the door. Had The door worked perfectly it would have been 10/ 10) |||There is a Gorgeous restaurant called tykes a short walk away where food is just out of this world and the staff make it even better!||There is loads of walks around the woods you can go on especially if you have little pooches, they will love it! ||Check out is 10:00 a.m. which is standard across most hotels so that's not too bad. |||Overall: ||Improvements that could be made in the areas of: |cleanliness,| dog friendliness (allowing them on the sofa providing they are on a blanket)|Check in: a bit earlier would be better |Maintaince. |||Overall experience 8/10 ||Recommend: yes
