Great walk down this canal on a beautiful sunny Easter Sunday and stumbled upon a cool floating market with great wares and food and drink options. Apparently Easter weekend is the only time that market is there so make sure you catch it.

A great marina. Great helpful and friendly staff. Marina maintained well. We could actually moor anywhere in the U.K. but chose to moor here. The farm shop is also a great benefit.

As new boaters, cruising down to Wolverhampton from Willington showed us how difficult CCing and commuting to work would be so we decided to search for a marina within easy driving distance. Coupled with the fact we have some work to on the boat and need to get professionals in for some of it a homebase location we can cruise in and out from just makes the most sense initially.

We saw Great Haywood was on route so thought we'd pop in and see the lay of the land. The website says it's a marina with 200 berths, actually with spots available for up to 60ft (ideal for us) each berth has a shared water point and their own electricity point, says they have this that and the other facilities... What they don't tell you is it's a leisure mooring and not liveaboard .

We moored up and started walking up, I called ahead and was told they'd never had someone make such a request at such short notice but to come along, I felt that was a bit rude but continued regardless as it was probably just me being tired.

Upon getting to the office we met the fella I'd spoken to on the phone and I explained our situation and what we were looking for, during the course of the conversation he used phrase's such as our request setting "alarm bells off" and "suspicious'... I'm not sure what they're hiding or think we're up to, maybe we're not the clientele they're aiming for but again I felt it quite rude.

We were invited to have a look around and come back the next day to speak to the manager but given how we were made to feel, decided against it and to look elsewhere and managed to secure a liveaboard mooring closer to where we need to be.

Lovely place for a stroll or a look in a few little shops. A pub an a couple of places for a coffee. Plus a cinema.

Had a lovely time when invited for a trip on a friends boat. Marina was tidy and looked well kept. Canal was great with all the wildlife around.
