I haven’t used a travel agent to book my holidays for more than 15 years. I’ve just jumped on to the internet and booked things for myself – always believing that this would guarantee me the best deal. However, I was recommended by a friend to try giving the Team at Great Experience Travel a call as my short list wasn't getting any shorter!, and what a surprise I was in for. I was looking to book something amazing for a 2 week family holiday to Mauritius next summer (I’ve never been before, so was down the tripadvisor rabbit hole). I was immediately passed through to Mandy, who is Great Experience’s tropical island specialist. It soon became clear how well she knew her stuff. She had visited lots of the hotels that I had on my (not so) short-list, had eaten in their restaurants (turns out she is a foodie like me)and knew the lay-out off by heart, and which parts of the island had the best weather for the time of year when we are visiting. She then came up with an amazing offer for an incredible Beachcomber property that hadn’t even come onto my radar. After so many years of doing everything for myself, I can’t tell you how refreshing it was to speak to a human being who had all the first-hand knowledge of the destination and the contacts to get me a fantastic offer. I'm now in a 2 bed villa with private pool for the price of 2 deluxe rooms booking off the net, Mandy even managed to get me the menus and wine lists for the restaurants emailed over showing me what is included. This is the Great Experience that Mandy and her colleagues promise everyone…So there is a role for an old-fashioned travel agent after all.
