The room was nice, clean and spacious but lacking in some facilities. Bathroom was clean but was very sparsely furnished with nowhere to put toiletries other than a small shelf.

We were disappointed that the advertised "coffee machine" was actually a kettle and packets of instant coffee.

The fridge provided was useful as there was no breakfast provided.

Used Grassington Lodge for a couple of days as a base while visiting the dales.

THE PROS
The bed was clean and comfortable. Towels were clean. Room was generally OK. Location is excellent, just a one-minute walk to Grassington marketplace.

THE CONS
Where do I start? The car park is tiny, badly laid out, and doesn't have enough room for one car per room. On day 2 we had to park our car in the public car park which cost £7 for 24 hours.

There's no Reception because the building isn't manned. Instead, there's a code for the main door, and a physical key for your room. There are no meal facilities at all, so you have to go into Grassington for all food and drink. There are a lot of steps up and down, just getting to and using a ground-floor room.

The room was OK, but way too warm with no ventilation unless the ground floor window was open but, since this opened onto the car park, not ideal. The en-suite was small and dirty. The shower cubicle had mould and would benefit from a deep clean. The shower had a habit of cutting out for a minute or so before restarting, presumably because it's run out of water somewhere. A five-minute shower had two cut-outs, which is just ridiculous. Toilet and sink need a good clean. En-suite door was badly fitting. No wall-mounted toilet roll holder, so toilet paper just ends up coiling onto the floor.

The whole place looks and feels tired. It seems to be trading on past glories, but in reality is barely one step up from a sad hostel.

After reading the reviews, I was worried. However, the Lodge wasn’t bad. Great location. They cleaned our room every day, which is something we didn’t have in other places we stayed in the Dales and Lake District. Lots of outlets for convenient charging. Mini fridge was helpful. They left us fresh milk for our coffee/tea, waters, and little snacks. They have a shared parlor area where we breakfasted on the yogurt and fruit we purchased at the market around the corner. (They also have cutlery/plates/bowls/glasses available, which we appreciated). The room and bathroom were quite small. Double bed. That was the downside. However, we didn’t spend much time there. It is unhosted, but we did get speedy responses to email inquiries. Very quiet at night.

We stayed in room 11, a downstairs double room that was spacious and equipped with all the standard facilities for an overnight stay. The shower seemed to take a particularly long time to warm up at all, but luckily we visited in hot weather so a cold shower wasn’t much of an issue. ||Some areas were in need of a more thorough cleaning, and we had to deal with two very large(!) spiders whilst there. The thing that let the room down most was the quality of sleep we had; the noise of guests above us or moving throughout the property via the stairs was so loud and a constant disturbance until the early hours. ||The location was great, and we were glad to be able to get a space in the fairly small car park without issue, but overall I wouldn’t return to this properly nor would I recommend it.

We stayed in the lodge for 3 nights. It was a very pleasant stay. The lodge is situated around the corner from the village. The room was very comfortable, clean and equipped with everything that you need for a few nights stay. All instructions to enter the Lodge where emailed to us prior to arrival as the lodge isn’t staffed. On the whole it was worth the money that we paid.

Beautiful place! Comfy bed! Just make sure you have your receipt if you pay in advance like we did. They were requesting payment the day we were arriving. It was a little stressful to try and work this out while driving there. Ultimately they did acknowledge that we had already paid. You won't find a cuter town!

Me and my partner had a lovely time, the location was lovely and convenient, a selection of treats and drinks available in the room and was easy to access with the given code. However, the hallways and room itself was incredibly dusty, I wouldn’t usually mind but for the price I payed I would have expected a completely clean room.

Prior to arrival I read some reviews which said room 6 doesn’t have a bathroom inside the bedroom so I emailed the hotel to query this, to be told that was the room we were in. They said they weren’t able to move us. On arrival there was no information about the separate bathroom so if I hadn’t asked prior to arrival we’d have had to guess! The hotels website also says bathrobes are provided so we didn’t bring our own. Bathrobes aren’t provided! |There was no toilet paper in the bathroom & as no staff are on site, I had to ring & ask for it & then wait a while until the lovely gentleman next door brought a roll round.|The room was quite dusty & the mirror was smeared & hadn’t been cleaned properly.|This trip was for our wedding anniversary & something we’d been looking forward to for a while, so the poor experience of the hotel was very disappointing |Despite the issues with the hotel, it is in a great location & Grassington didn’t disappoint!
